DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Es ist Mittwoch und damit ist die Woche schon zur Hälfte rum, ich freue mich schon aufs Wochenende und darauf meine Nähmaschine anzuwerfen zu dürfen! Heute gibt es mal wieder ein Kleidungsstück was nicht wirklich alltagstauglich ist und zwar ein Cocktail Kleid genäht mit dem vintage Simplicity Schnitt 4744. Ich habe es vor einigen Wochen zu der Vorhochzeitsparty (ja sowas gibt es wirklich und es war super!!!) einer Freundin getragen. Auf der Einlandung stand, gemütliches beisammensitzen aber die Location war ein Hotel und deshalb dachte ich, Bianca du brauchst ein Cocktailkleid!!! Es stellte sich heraus dass ich total falsch lag und völlig overdressed erschienen bin 😂😂😂😂 aber dass war mir dann auch egal!

EN: Good morning everyone! It‘s Wednesday, which means the week is halfway over and the weekend is just around the corner,,, can you hear the sound of your sewing machine humming? Today, I‘d like to show you a garment I sewed that isn‘t particularly practical, it‘s a cocktail dress made out of the vintage Simplicity pattern 4744, I wore it to my friends Pre–Wedding party ( yes, this is a thing and it‘s fabulous!!) The invitation promised a casual get together, but since the location was a hotel, I was convinced I needed to show up in a cocktail dress… I was wrong… and totally overdresed, but couldn‘t be bothered 😂😂😂😂😂

DE: Den Schnitt hatte ich im Mai für mein Ballkleid verwendet und wusste, daher auf was ich mich einlassen würde. Ich habe Seide von Britex verwendet, die ich letztes Jahr in San Francisco gekauft hatte. Britex ist ein wahnsinns Stoffgeschäft, dass sich über 4 Stockwerke zieht und die schönsten und edelsten Stoffe diverser Designer verkauft. Die Preise lassen einem den Atem stocken und diese Seide stammt auch aus der Resteabteilung, die ausserdem Ausverkauf hatte!!! Ich hatte genau 2 Meter zur Verfügung und schnell wurde klar, dass ich mir zwecks dem Rock etwas anderes einfallen lassen müsste.

EN: Since I had used this pattern for my ballgown in May, I knew what I was getting myself into. I used silk, that I bought at Britex in San Francisco last year. Britex is an amazing store, that is spread out over 4 floors and sells the most beautiful, special fabric of many designers. The prices will make your eyes water and I will admit, that I got the fabric on the fourth floor dedicated to remnants … they also had a sale on, that sweetend the deal…. I unfortunately, only had 2 meters at my disposal, which meant I needed to be creative, when it came to making up the skirt of the dress.

DE: Ich habe das Kleid in Größe 16 genäht und die Träger um 1 inch gekürzt und das Oberteil an beiden Seiten jeweils um 2 cm verkleinert. Damit wurde die Passform deutlich besser, ich habe nur das Oberteil gefüttert und dafür den gleichem Stoff verwendet. Für den Originalrock hatte ich, wie oben erwähnt, leider nicht genug Stoff, also habe ich den restlichen Stoff im Bruch gefaltet und zuerst den Stoff so zugeschnitten, dass er überall gleich lang war. Dann habe ich den Saum um 2 cm umgeschlagen und per Hand mit Viskosefaden festgenäht.

EN: I sewed the dress in a size 16 and shortend the straps by one inch, I also took in the side of the bodice by 2 cm grading into nothing at the hips. This made the fit of the bodice, so much better and I also lined the bodice using the same fabric. As I mentioned above, I didn‘t have enough fabric to make the original skirt, so I folded the skirt at the foldline and then made sure to cut it, so that it was the same length all over. I then hemmed the dressed by hand using a 2cm seam allowance and viscose thread.

DE: Ich habe dann den Bruch an die linke Oberteilseite, die ich schon festgenäht hatte, mit Nadeln befestigt und habe dann so lange herumprobiert bis ich hinten und vorne jeweils 2 gleich große Kellerfalten zusammen gebracht hatte. Ich habe dann das Oberteil an den Rock genäht und an der rechten Oberteilseite habe ich dann einen verdeckten Reißverschluss eingenäht. Voila! Fertig war mein Kleid! Ich habe übrigens absichtlich die Midi– Länge gewählt, da ich glaube, dass die Länge gerade sehr schick ist und sollte dies nur ein kurz bleibender Trend sein, kann ich das Kleid immer noch kürzen!

EN: I then attached the foldline to the left side of the bodice, which I had already sewed closed and then played with the fabric until I had 2 identical boxpleats on both the front and the back. I sewed an invisible zip into the right side of the dress and voila, my cocktail dress was finished!!! I chose the midi length for the skirt, because I think that length is currently having a bit of a moment and should that moment just be fleeting, I can always shorten the skirt!

DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Ich hoffe, ihr habt alle den Brücken- und Feiertag gut überstanden und startet am heutigen Mittwoch mit viel Elan in den Tag. Ich habe am Wochenende daheim viel gewirbelt, mit dem Wechsel der Jahreszeiten will man plötzliches alles putzen und herrichten und aussortieren….. und meine bessere Hälfte hat den Garten auf vorderman gebracht, weil ich leider keinen grünen Daumen habe, er dafür umso mehr.

EN: Good morning everybody! I spent the weekend spring/autumn cleaning my house, why is it, that every time the season change we all want to clean and reorganise and toss out things that we don’t care for? The Mister sorted out the backyard, as I do not have any gardening talents, at all!

DE: Da ich schon letzte Woche das Herbstnähen eingeläutet habe, wollte ich euch nun meinen neuen Trench vorstellen, den ich am Sonntag, ENDLICH fertig gestellt habe. Den Mantel hatte ich schon im August ausgeschnitte, konnte mich aber überhaupt nicht dazu motivieren ihn zu nähen…. Der Schnitt ist von dem Französischem Label Orageuse, das ich unheimlich modern finde und ganz meinem Geschmackt trifft. Ich hatte im Frühjahr schon 2 Trench Coats nach dem Muster von Deer and Doe genäht und den Rosafarbenen zu Tode getragen (der Stoff gibt leider gerade nach… das kommt davon wenn man mit minderwertigem Material arbeitet!!) was natürlich bedeutet, dass ganz schnell ein neuer her musste!!

EN: Last week I rang in the start of autumn sewing, which is why I will be showing you my new trench coat, this week. I FINALLY finished it this Sunday, I cut it out in August (!!!) and then couldn’t get my act together…. sigh…..If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you’ll know, that I sewed up the Deer and Doe Luzerne coat twice this spring and have been living in the blush colour one, all year… which is why it is now looking very tired and is starting to fall apart…

DE: Kommen wir zum Schnitt! Den Londres Trench Coat habe ich in Größe 40 genäht ohne irgendwelche Anpassungen zu machen, was ich wirklich super finde! Ich habe diese wunderbare Garberdine von Pretty Mercerie am Sommeranfang gekauft, der Stoff fühlt sich unheimlich edel an und lässt sich sehr gut verarbeiten. Nachdem ich alle Teile ausgeschnitten hatte, habe ich eine sehr dünnen Vliseline auf alle Stücke gebügelt. Damit wollte ich dem Stoff noch etwas Stand geben und dafür sorgen, dass der Stoff weiterhin großteils knitterfrei bleibt. Da ich wollte, dass der Trench meine neue Übergangsjacke werden sollte, habe ich *DRUMROLL PLEASE* aus dem Tedi 2 Fleecedecken gekauft (für jeweils 2 €) und habe damit die Vorderteile, die Rückenteile und die Ärmel gefüttert. HAHHAHAHAHAH

EN: Let’s get down to business! I sewed up the Londres Trench Coat in a size 40 without any alterations, which is why it gets major brownie points from me! The pattern is by a French Label called Orageuse, which is very on trend and I really love their aesthetic. I used this wonderful Gabardine from Pretty Mercerie, which feels really rich and was a dream to work with. After I cut out all the pattern pieces I fused a very thin interfacing to all the pieces, and since I wanted to wear the coat until the first snow sets in decided to interline the trench with *DRUMROLL PLEASE* a fleece blanket…. HAHAHAHAHH

DE: Um dass zu machen, habe ich einfach die ausgeschnittenen Gaberdineteile auf die Fleecedecken gelegt und dann ausgeschnitten, auch habe ich alles mit einer Nahtzugabe von 0.5 cm an die Gaberdine gesteppt. Das war zwar aufwendig, aber dafür ist mein Mantel jetzt schön warm und ich glücklich! Ich habe den Ärmel noch eine Blende gegönnt an die ich dann noch vintage Glassknöpfe genäht habe um dem Mantel noch ein wenig Pfiff zu geben. Ich habe auch Knöpfe an den Schulterkappen und am Rücken, wo ich auch noch eine Gürtelschlaufe befestigt hatte angenäht. Ich wollte eigentlich die Fotos unter dem Kirschbaum in unserem Garten machen, wenn alle roten Blätter am Boden liegen, aber mein Lebensgefährte hatte schon alle Blätter eingesammelt… seufz…. Das Kleid ist übrigens ein altes Mccalls 6886, was ich immer sehr gerne trage, ich glaube ich muss mal wieder ein neues davon nähen!

EN: I bought two blankets at a One Euro Shop and placed the pattern pieces of the front, back and the sleeves on it and cut it out. I then basted the fleece pieces to the Gaberdine using a 0,5cm seam allowance. It took forever, but I am really glad, that I took the time, because this coat is warm! I gave the sleeves a placket and sewed on some vintage glass button, because I felt it would give the whole coat a little more oomph! I also added the buttons to the back belt loop, that I also added and the plackets on the shoulders. I wanted to take pictures of me standing under our cherry tree with the beautiful red leaves lying on the ground…. but the Mister decided to rake them all up, earlier that day…. sigh…. Also I am wearing my trust McCall’s 6886 dress I made a year ago and reminds me, that I really need to make another one for the colder season.

DE: Es gibt jedoch ein paar Sachen die ich am Schnitt bemängeln muss, die Anleitungen sind…nicht so toll. Viele Schritte werden einfach weggelassen, und die Anleitung für die Taschen sind gar nicht gut. Ich habe mir dazu ein Video auf YouTube angeschaut um noch irgendwie fertig zu werden. Ich habe dann irgendwann frei Schnautze genäht, was recht gut funktioniert hat, da ich schon genug Jacken und Mäntel genäht habe, jedoch denke ich, dass jemand, der sich zum ersten Mal an sowas traut, etwas zu kämpfen haben wird. Auch wünsche ich mir, dass ich den Ärmel in 2 Teile abgeändert hätte, dass tät mit Sicherheit edler aussehen, aber sowas ist wahrscheinlich nur Geschmackssache.

EN: As much as I love how this coat turned out, there are a few things we need to talk about. I found the instructions to be a bit….unhelpful. Especially the instructions to sew in the welt pocket, something I have never done before. I ended up using a youtube video instead, because I just wanted to finish the jacket and not burst into tears. I sewed the rest of the coat without using the instructions, which turned out just fine, I’ve sewn a number of jackets and coats before, so I had enough experience to put it together, halfway decently. I do however think, if this is your first coat project, you might have some issues with it. =( I also wish, that the sleeve pattern piece consisted out of 2 pieces, as that just looks so much more professional, but that is just my opinion.

DE: Ich bin sehr stolz auf diesen Mantel, und so glücklich, dass ich für den Herbst eine schicke und warme Übergangsjacke habe. Das bedeutet natürlich, dass ich mich jetzt an meinem Wintermantel machen muss… YIKES!!! Das wird mein erster richtiger Winter in 2 Jahren!!! Hab ihr vor Wintermäntel zu nähen? Welche Muster wollt ihr dazu verwenden? Ich würde mich freuen, von euch zu hören!

EN: I am quite proud of this coat and I am sure, that I will be living in it through the cooler months… which of course means I now have to get my winter coat sorted out before the first snow falls… YIKES!!! DE: Guten morgen ihr Lieben! Es ist sehr herbstlich geworden in den letzten Tagen weshalb ich meine Herbst und Winterklamotten heraus gekramt habe um zu sehen, was alles ersetzt werden muss und was mir noch für die kalten Monate fehlt und ich noch umbedingt nähen muss. Was ich schon seit Jahren nähen wollte, war ein Jeanskleid. Es sollte ein dunkles Indigo Blau sein, lange Ärmel haben und bronzfarbene Knöpfe haben, also habe ich mich mal durch mein Schnittmusterlager geschlagen und mich für dieses Vogue 9077 Kleid entschieden.

EN: Good morning everyone!! Autmn has finally arrived and I have gone through my wardrobe to see what needs to be mended, replaced and sewn by me! What I’ve really wanted to sew for years was a jeans dress in an indigo blue with long sleeves and bronze colored snaps. This year I finally pulled the trigger and used the Vogue 9077 pattern I already had in my stash.

DE: Was mir sehr gut an dem Muster gefallen hat, waren die vielen kleinen Deteils, der Kragen besteht aus zwei Teilen, das Kleid hat in beiden Rockausführungen Taschen und die Knopfleiste geht nicht ganz bis an den Rocksaumen. Ich habe einen sehr leichten (ich vermute da ist auch etwas Viskose beigemischt!) Chambraystoff, den ich in Birmingham bei Barry’s gekauft hatte, verwendet.Was mir an den Vogue Schnitten nicht gefällt, ist dass die fertigen Maße nicht gedruckt werden.

EN: What I really liked about the patterm were the many little details: the collar consists of two pieces, the placket doesn’t go to the hem of the dress, the two different skirt optiones and of course the fact that there are pocket! I used a chambray from Barry’s I got in August while I was at the Sewing Weekender, which was super drapey ( I thinks it’s a viscose mix). What I didn’t like about the pattern, was that the finished measurements are not printed on the envelope.

DE: Ich habe mich für die größe 12 entschieden, jedoch nur eine Nahtzugabe von 1cm verwendet. bei den Ärmel habe ich an beiden seiten 1,5cm weggschnitten und den Ärmel mit einer Nahtzugabe von 2cm genäht damit war der Ärmel nicht mehr so groß und ich deutlich glücklicher. Auch habe ich den Rock um 15 cm verlängert weil mir zu kurz war… nun bin ich mir nicht sucher ob er zu lang ist…🙈

EN: I sewed a size 12 and used a 1 cm seam allowance. I cut 1,5 cm off both sides of the sleeved and then sewed the sleeve with a 2 cm seam allowance. I also trimmed 1,5cm off the sleeve placket so that the sleeve would fit into it, seriously, that sleeves were enormous!!!! I added a 15cm hem to the skirt, because it was an awkward length on me, I’m not sure if it’s too long now…. 🙈

DE: Ich warne euch vor, an diesem Kleid werdet ihr viel mit der Hand nähen müssen, der Kragen, die Knopfleiste und der Saum möchten alle gerne mit der Hand genäht werden. Das einzige was ich etwas kniffelig an diesem Kleid gefunden habe, war wie die Knopfleiste an der Mitte des Kleides befestigt wird. Ich bin immer noch nicht mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden.

EN: I will warn you, there is quite a hit of handsewing that you’ll need to tackle with this pattern…. the collar, the buttonband thr sleeve placket and the hem. Also, I’m still not quite happy with how the button band is attached to the dress…

DE: Auch habe ich mir endlich eine Prym Zange gekauft was das anbrigen von Anorak Knöpfen soooo was von erleichtert hat. Ganz ehrlich, KAUFT EUCH DIESE ZANGE!!!! Mit einem Tool, konnte ich spielend leicht kleine Löcher in den Stoff stanzen und mit einem anderen Tool die Druckknöpfe befestigen ohne die Knöpfe zu beschädigen!! ICH BIN BEGEISTERT!

EN: I finally invested in a pair of Prym pliers, seriously, why on earth was I attaching snaps with my hammer, ruining sooo many buttons and causing myself soooo much emotional grief!!! I really recommend buying these, my snaps turned out sooooo good!!!

DE: Ich bin mir leider immernoch nicht so ganz sicher, ob dieses Kleid mein Fall ist, was unheimlich Schade ist, weil ich doch sooooo lange ein Jeanskleid in meiner Garderobe haben wollte. mir gefällt nicht wie ich die Knopfleiste, unten am Kleid befestigt habe, das wirft so unvorteilhafte Falten und ich bin mir auch nicht sicher, ob mir das Kleid überhaupt steht….😭😭😭😭😭

EN: I’m still on the fence with this dress, while I do think it will definitely will make an appearance in my autumn wardrobe, I’m not sure it really suits me and I’m not happy with the button placket… I’m hoping it will grow on me though, because I’ve wanted this sort of dress, for so long!😭😭😭😭😭

Geschichten eines Hochzeitgäste Kleides – Tales of a Wedding Guest Dress

DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Heute möchte ich euch das Kleid zeigen, dass ich zur Hochzeit meiner lieben Freundin Julia, getragen habe. Wie ich euch schon letzte Woche berichtet hatte, habe ich mich unheimlich in den Sophia Schnitt von By Hand London Verliebt und habe schon 2 Kleider im Sommer genäht.

Für diesen Anlass, beschloss ich den Rock des Kleides abzuändern. Es ist zwar ein weiter Rock im Schnitt mit einbegriffen, aber die vielen Godetes machten mir große Kopfschmerzen, also beschloss ich stattdessen den Rock von dem Rosie Dress von Sew Over It zu verwenden, was unheimlich gut gelang.

EN: Good morning everyone! Today, I’d like to show you the dress I made for my dear friend Julia wedding. As I have been having a bit of a love affair with the Sophia Dress by By Hand London, I decided to use the bodice of that dress and pair it with a different Skirt. Granted, The Sophia does come with a big skirt pattern piece, however I couldn’t wrap my head around the many godetes, so I decided to use the Rosie Dress Skirt from Sew Over It, instead.

DE: Für den Stoff verwendete ich Seidenkrepp von Liberty of London, den Stoff hatte ich mal Anfang des Jahres bei Shaukat bestellt, und schon in blau zu einem Eve Dress vernäht. Die Seide ist sehr angenehm zu verarbeiten, sie lässt sich super bügeln, machte mir beim Ausschneiden keine Probleme und auch beim vernähen lief alles wie geschmiert. Ich habe eine 70ger Nähmaschinen Nadel verwendet und Viskose Nähseide von Gütermann, um möglichen Kräuselungen entgegen zu wirken und habe beim Bügeln ein Bügeltuch benutzt damit die Seide nicht beschädigt wird.

EN: I chose to use a crepe de chine from Liberty of London, that I had ordered at the beginning of the year from Shaukat. I actually used a different colour way for the first Eve Dress, I sewed. I really enjoyed sewing with the silk , it pressed beautifully, didn’t give me a headache while I was cutting out the pattern pieces and my machine didn’t even try to eat the fabric! I used a 70 sewing needle and Viscose thread from Gütermann to avoid the fabric from looking tortured, It was worth the effort!

DE: Ich habe das Oberteil des Kleides mit der gleichen Seide gefüttert und habe alle Säume mit der Overlock versäubert (weil ich mal wieder akute Zeitknappheit hatte.. Asche auf mein Haupt!) den Rock habe ich jedoch mit der Hand vernäht (das hat ewig gedauert!!!) und dabei angefangen Hause of Cards zu gucken. Ich glaube ich bin der letzte Mensch auf diesem Planeten, der erst jetzt damit angefangen hat diese Serie zu gucken!!! Ich bin total süchtig und kann nicht warten die restlichen Staffeln zu verschlingen.

EN: I chose to line the bodice of the dress with the same fabric and used an overlocker for all the seams ( because I was last minute dot com, per usual!) I did take my time to hem the skirt by hand (which took forever!!) while watching House of Cards. Seriously, I must be the last person on the planet that has discovered this series, I am addicted and I cannot wait to see what Frank and Claire get up to next!! I plan to bingewatch the next 4 seasons the coming weeks!!!

DE: Zu dem Kleid habe ich meine beigen Schuhe und meinen Fascinator getragen, es war am Tag der Hochzeit so kalt, dass ich sogar noch meine Übergangsjacke aus dem Schrank kramen musste. Das ist übrigens der Silvia Coatigan von Schnittchen in Rosa Wolle, den ich vor 2 Jahren genäht habe, ich habe mich unheimlich darüber gefreut, dass die Jacke so gut zum Kleid gepasst hat. Die Hochzeit war übrigens einfach nur schön und ich bin froh, dass ich dabei sein durfte!

Geschichten über Sophia – Tales of By Hand London’s Sophia Dress

DE: Meine heutigen Kleider widme ich der wunderbaren Nina von Kleidermanie deren Blog ich schon seit Jahren lese und dessen Garderobe ich am liebsten klauen würde. Nina hat in diesen Post von ihrer Urlaubsgarderobe für Paris gebloggt und dann auf IG ihr Sophia Kleid von By Hand London gezeigt. Ich war hin und weg von dem Kleid und überlegte wo ich nun auf die schnelle diesen Schnitt auftreiben könnte…. und stieß daraufhin auf den Schnitt IN MEINEM LAGER!!!!!! Ja, so ist es liebe Leser und Leserinnen, ich besitze scheinbar viel zu viele Schnitte die ich noch nie umgesetzt habe und dann Originalverpackt in irgendeiner Ecke vergessen habe. Nachdem ich mich eine Weile abgrundtief geschämt hatte, habe ich mich dann an die Arbeit gemacht, meine Schnitte auszusortieren und sie ordentlich nach Schnittmuster-Label abzulegen. Ich habe mich auch von vielen beim Sewing Weekender in Cambridge getrennt (hust…hust…Collette..hust..hust…) um nur noch die Schnitte im Lager zu haben, die ich tatsächlich nähen möchte. So viel zum Stand meines Schnittmuster Lagers, kommen wir zu Sophia!

EN: I’d like to dedicate my two Sophia dresses to Nina from Kleidermanie I’ve followed her blog for many years and love all the beautiful garments she sews. Right before we all broke up for summer, Nina posted about the clothes she’s like to take on her trip to Paris and also posted about her Sophia dress, needless to say I was totally in love with her dress and decided I needed this pattern stat! I started trying to track down the paper pattern online… only to find a copy of it in my stash… OOPS!!! Right, I felt a bit silly, that couldn’t remember the patterns I own and did a proper clear out of all the things I no longer wanted and donated them at the Sewing Weekender…. (cough..cough..Collette..cough…cough…) Anyway, let’s get back to Sophia!
DE: By Hand London hat das Sophia Schnittmuster schon vor einigen Jahren auf den Markt gebracht, das Oberteil hat einen ganz ungewöhnlichen Ausschnitt in Verbindung mit den Trägern und sehr viele Abnäher, was einen aber nicht abschrecken sollte. Es gibt auch zwei sehr Unterschiedliche Rock varianten, was den Schnitt dann auch vielseitiger macht! Den Mint farbenen Stoff den ich verwendet habe ist von Atelier Brunette, die hatten am Sommer Anfang einen Ausverkauf und da habe ich mich etwas ausgetobt, ich besitze noch gar nichts mint farbenes in meinem Kleiderschrank, weshalb ich mich dann für diesen Stoff entschieden habe. Den Blauen Bonbon Stoff ist von Liberty und den habe ich in London bei Classic Textiles gekauft. Ich habe mich bei beiden Kleidern für Version 1 mit dem Bleistift Rock entschieden und die Größe 12 gewählt. An dem Schnitt habe ich nur die Träger um 1 inch verkürzt, was die Passform 100% verbessert hat, das musste ich übrigens auch bei Orsola machen.

EN: By Hand London released this pattern a number of years ago and what initially attracted me to the dress was the unusual bodice. The darts start in the middle of the bodice instead of on the sides, the straps have a V-shape and the pattern comes with two very different skirts, which makes it very versatile. I chose to make Version 1 with the pencil skirt and used a mint colour lawn from Atelier Brunette, that I picked up at their online summer sale and the sweetie dress, as I dubbed it on IG is actually a liberty fabric I picked up at Classic Textiles in London at the beginning of the year. I cut a straight size 12 and the only alteration I made was shortening the strap by 1 inch. Yep, the fit was really good, right out of the package.

DE: Ich habe das Oberteil mit dem gleichen Stoffen gefüttert, da ich nicht wollte, dass mir möglicherweise ein anderer Stoff bei den Trägern herausquillt. Ich habe am Rückenteil etwas mit dem einnähen des unsichtbaren Reißverschlusses und den Abnähern gekämpft. Ich wollte dass sich alle Abnäher direkt in der Mitte treffen, dass hat viel Geduld gekostet, aber das Ergebnis kann sich jetzt zeigen lassen. den Saum hab ich mal wieder mit der Hand genäht und dabei THE DEFENDERS of Netflix geschaut. Diejenigen die Jessica Jones und Luke Cage gut fanden, werden diese Serie lieben. Ich bin traurig, dass es nur 8 Folgen gab, die waren viel zu schnell vorbei.. heul….

EN: I self lined the bodices , because I didn’t want the lining fabric to roll out and look like the dogs dinner (I did understitch, but you know how it is….) I also used invisible zips on both dresses, as there are quite a few darts on the back that meet up in the middle, I did have to use my seamripper a number of times, what can I say, I’m a perfectionist (cough cough…masochist..cough ..cough..) and it was worth getting the dart to match up perfectly! I hand sewed the hem while watching THE DEFENDERS on Netflix, those of you who loved Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will love this series, I was just really sad that the fun was over after 8 episodes…. sob!

DE: Ich muss jedoch zugeben, dass der Mintfarbene Stoff SEHR knittert, ich habe nun ein Waschmittel mit Stärke gekauft um den Knittern den Kampf anzusagen! Mal gucken ob das wirkt! Ich habe schon eine dritte Version dieses Kleides genäht und zwar als Hochzeitsgästekleid, mit einem anderem Rock, das stelle ich euch dann nächste Woche vor. Mir gefällt das Muster sehr gut und ich hab schon Ideen das Oberteil mit anderen Röcken von anderen Muster zu kombinieren, mal gucken wie lange der Sommer noch bei uns bleibt!

EN: Unfortunately, the mint fabric does wrinkle quite a bit, I’ve bought a detergent that starches the fabric while washing it and I hope that will sort out the issue, as I really love the dress. I’ve already sewn a bit of a hack of this dress, using the bodice and swapping out the skirt, as a wedding guest dress, which I’ll blog about next week! I really, really love this pattern and have plans to hack this dress a few more times, if the weather allows it!

DE: Guten morgen ihr lieben! Eigentlich hatte ich vor euch ein anderes Kleid heute auf dem Blog vorzustellen, doch als ich gestern das Kleid anzog um Bilder zu machen und mich noch kurz vor dem Spiegel stellte, beschloss ich, die Träger am Kleid zu kürzen. Nun liegt das Kleid auf meinem Nähtisch (bis nächste Woche) und ich zeige euch stattdessen mein neues Eve Kleid.

DE: Eve, hatte ich ja schon einmal genäht, als sie ganz neu auf dem Markt kam. Ich entschied mich wieder Version 2 in Größe 10 zu nähen und verwendete eine Viskose die ich auf dem Ragmarket in Birmingham gekauft hatte, den man jedoch hier auch für einen sehr erschwinglichen Preis erwerben kann! Dieses Mal habe ich tatsächlich SOFORT das Stabilisierungsband an dem Ausschnitt befestigt und siehe da, das Oberteil leierte sich ÜBERHAUPT NICHT aus.

EN: I have already sewn Eve before and chose to make up version 2 in a size 10, again. I used a viscose, that I bought at the Birmingham Ragmarket, that you can also order here for a very competitive price (you’re welcome!!). This time I actually used stay tape on the neckline from the get go, and there was noooo stretching!!!! It seems, this old dog, can learn new tricks.

DE: Das Kleid, lässt sich sehr schnell und einfach zusammen nähen, ich habe dieses Mal beschlossen alles mit der Maschine zu nähen, anstatt den Saum in Handarbeit anzunähen. Das lag vor allem daran, dass der meist schwarze Stoff, die Stiche verschwinden ließ. Das Kleid habe ich für letztes Wochenende genäht, da ich mit meiner besseren Hälfte und meinen Schwiegereltern in Magdeburg, ein Klassisches Konzert besucht habe. Das Konzert wurde in einem Hof in einem Kloster gehalten und ich fand diese Lichterausstellung, doch sehr lustig.

EN: Constructing the dress, was very quick and easy and this time I chose to sew the entire dress on my machine instead of sewing the hem by hand. I actually made the dress, because I attended a classical concert over the weekend with my Mister and his parents, in Magdeburg. The concert was held in an old monastery, where they had this light display, that I thought was very tongue-in-cheek.

DE: Liebste Leser und Leserinnen, es scheint mir, dass mich das Leben eingeholt hat und ich – OH SCHRECK – seit Wochen nichts gebloggt habe! Das liegt vor allem daran, dass ich im Urlaub war, Freunde und Familie besucht habe und bis spät Abends im Büro saß, weil meine Stoffsucht auch irgendwie bezahlt werden muss. Meistens war ich zu kaputt um noch irgendetwas zu nähen, geschweige irgend etwas zu bloggen. Außerdem habe ich auf Netflix sowohl “Chef’s Table” und “The Fall” entdeckt und konnte mich dann gar nicht mehr dazu motivieren mich vor meine Nähmaschine zu setzen. Ich kann beide Serien wirklich empfehlen, erstere erinnert mich daran, dass meine Kochkünste zu wünschen übrig lassen, ich habe übrigens bei jeder Folge bis auf einer (weil der Chef ein ziemlicher Idiot war), geweint (ich bin eine alte Heulsuse) und bei “The Fall” warte ich schon sehnsüchtige auf die dritte Staffel. Gillian Anderson ist phantastisch als Kommissarin und ihre Garderobe ist beneidenswert! So, nun hab ich genug aus dem Nähkästchen geplaudert, kommen wir zum eigentlichem: mein Neues Kleid!!!!

EN: Dear Readers, it seems life caught up with me and I haven’t blogged in weeks! YIKES!! Nothing serious happened – I promise, I went on vacation, visited friends and family and spent long nights at the office, because my fabric stash doesn’t pay for itself, right? =) Most nights, I was too tired to sit down and sew something and instead fell down the rabbit hole that is Netflix and discovered “Chef’s Table” and “The Fall”. Chef’s Table is a fantastic series about Chefs, life, loss and food and yes I cried in all but one episode (because that Chef was an ass), also I realised I really need to do something about my lack of cooking skills. As for the Fall… GILLIAN ANDERSON!!!! I love her, her wardrobe was amazing and the character she plays is fabulous! Right, now that you’re all caught up, let’s get down to business!

DE: Es ist ein Mischung aus dem By Hand London Anna Dress und dem Deer and Doe Belladone. Ich habe es meiner Näh-Freundin Vicki gewidmet, wir saßen vor 2 Wochen beim “Sewing Weekender” neben einander und obwohl wir uns schon beim letzten “Sewbrum” und über Instagram kannten, haben wir uns endlich ausgiebig unterhalten können. Vicki hat genau dieses Schnittmuster-Hack mit einem African Wax Stoff genäht und ich habe mich total darin verliebt.

EN: The Hack is a mix of the By Hand London Anna Dress and the Deer and Doe Belladone dress. The dress is dedicated to Vicki, whom I sat next to at the Sewing Weekender 2 weeks ago. We had met before at “Sewbrum” and messaged on Instagram, but actually meeting your sewing friends in real life, really is so much fun! Vicki was actually sewing up this hack using some luscious African wax and I immediately fell in love with her dress.

DE: Ich habe den Stoff vor einiger Zeit bei Pretty Mercerie bestellt, es ist eine schöne Baumwolle, die die Rockform gut hält und nicht allzu knittert. Das Oberteil, the Anna Dress habe ich dieses Mal in Größe 12 genäht was deutlich besser passt und den Rock the Belladone habe ich in Größe 40 genäht, ich musste die Kellerfalte vorne am Rock etwas größer machen, damit sie mit einem der Abnäher am Oberteil gut zusammen passte. Ich habe einen unsichtbaren Reißverschluss gewählt und der ist beim ersten Mal perfekt eingenäht worden, so was passiert mir nicht ganz so oft, weshalb ich besonders stolz war!

EN: I bought this fabric from Pretty Mercerie, it’s a really nice cotton that holds the shape of the skirt really well and doesn’t crinkle very badly at all. I used the bodice of the Anna and sewed up a size 12 which fits so much better than the size 10 I made before, also I cut a straight size 40 of the Belladone skirt and then took the skirt in by 2 inches on the sides and graded into nothing before the notch for the pockets. I had to move the pleat of the skirt a tiny bit so it would line up with one of the darts on the bodice, but that’s all I had to do. I used an invisible zip, that went in on the first try, that doesn’t happen very oft, so I was quit proud!

DE: Die Bilder hat meine bessere Hälfte übrigens vor unserem Quittenbaum gemacht, falls einer von euch ein tolles Rezept für Quitten hat, nur her damit!! Nächstes Mal werde ich das Oberteil anstatt 1,5 Zoll nur 1 Zoll verlängern, es ist nämlich einen Ticken zu lang, aber durch das Muster des Stoffs, fällt das glaube ich, nur mir auf. Auch würde ich den Rock etwas verlängern. Ich finde, das Kleid ist sehr gelungen und werde es im Herbst und Winter, bestimmt mit einer dicken Strumpfhose und Stiefel tragen. Habt ihr schon mit dem Nähen eurer Herbst Garderobe begonnen?

EN: My Mister took these pics of me in front of our quince tree, if you by any chance have a good recipe for quince – please let me know, we have sooo many this year! Next time I’ll lengthen the bodice by 1 inch instead of 1.5 inches, it’s a smidgen to long, but since the print is so busy, I’m the only one that probably notices it.Also I’ll lengthen the skirt by 1 inch. I think the dress turned out really well, the colours of the print will follow me all the way through autumn and winter, where I’ll wear the dress with tights and boots =)

DE: Guten Morgen ihr lieben! Heute möchte ich euch gerne mein neues Kleid, das ORSOLA DRESS von By Hand London vorstellen. Der Schnitt wurde vor wenigen Wochen auf den Markt gebracht und ich war total hin und weg und habe ihn bestellt. An diesem Punkt, möchte ich erwähnen, dass ich die Copy Shop Datei gekauft habe und anschließend die Dateien bei Preiswertplotten hochgeladen habe. Das mache ich seit einigen Wochen mit allen meinen PDF Schnitten, der Bogen kotet 1,70€ und bisher lagen meine Frisch gedruckten Schnitten (auf qualitative Hochwertigem Papier) innerhalb von 48 Stunden in meinem Briefkasten! EN: Good morning everyone! Today I’d like to show you my new dress, THE ORSOLA DRESS by By Hand London. When the pattern was released a few weeks ago, I completely fell in love with the dress and ordered it straight away!

DE: Zurück zum Schnitt, bisher habe ich von By Hand London nur die ANNA genäht, die wirklich bezaubernd ist. Was mich sofort bei ORSOLA angezogen hat, war der Rücken des Kleides, da flattert das Schneiderinnen Herz! Was mir aber noch viel besser gefiel, war, dass man bei diesem Kleid weder KNÖPFE noch einen REIßVERSCHLUSS benötigt!! YAS!!!

EN: Let’s dig in: So far I’ve only ever made their ANNA DRESS which I love. What attracted me to the dress was the fact that there are no closures, yep NO BUTTONS OR ZIPS!!! YAS!!!

DE: Wie gesagt, ich LIEBE die Rückenansicht und den tollen geschwungenem Saum an Version 2, weshalb ich mich auch für diese entschieden habe. Ich wollte schon seit zwei Sommern, gerne ein weißes Leinen Kleid, also passte das alles hervorragend. Ich habe 2,9 m Leinen von Pretty Mercerie verwendet und habe die Maße des fertigen Kleides verwendet, da ich angst hatte, dass das Kleid zu groß werden würde und der besagte Rückausschnitt furchtbar aussehen würde. Das war eindeutig die richtige Entscheidung.

EN: I love, love, love the low back detail and the scalloped hem of Dress Variation 2, which is why I chose to sew it up. I used 2.9m of white linen from Pretty Mercerie, as I really wanted a little white dress in my closet for the past two summers, and sewed up a straight size 10. I chose to go with the finished garment measurements, as I was worried, the back would gape and look really unfortunate, if I went with the size of my measurements, this was definitely the right decision.

DE: Ich habe ein “Quick and Dirty” Probeoberteil genäht um sicher zustellen, dass ich nicht noch ein wenig was an der Passform ändern müsste. Das Oberteil habe ich um 1 inch verlängert, ich glaube das habe ich damals bei ANNA auch gemacht. Ich war von der Konstruktion des Kleides echt beeindruckt, die Damen haben sich wirklich Mühe gemacht, dass nachdem man alles zusammen genäht hat, das Innenleben des Kleides unheimlich sauber und professionell aussieht. Ich empfehle euch jedoch STAYTAPE (wie heißt das auf Deutsch?) so eine Art Vliseline Tape bei den Rückenteilen zu verwenden, damit die Rückenansicht nicht ausleiert und unvorteilhaft aussieht.

EN: I made a quick muslin of the bodice to determine, whether I needed to play with the fit and decided to lengthen the bodice by one inch, I think I did the same for the Anna Dress eons ago, as well. The construction of the dress is BRILLIANT!!!! Instead of faffing about with facings, you line the bodice, I used the same fabric as the shell which gives the dress a very polished finish. All the notches match and the way you are meant to sew the bodice, the waistband/ waist ties and skirt together leaves the dress looking incredibly neat and professional on the inside. I do recommend using stay tape on the back bodice pieces to avoid them stretching out, you could also use ribbon or something similar with no stretch.

DE: Was den Rock des Kleides angeht, haben die Damen von BHL einen Beleg entworfen den man an den Rock näht, ich bin sehr begeistern von dem Ergebnis und mag auch nie wieder Querband verwenden. NIE WIEDER!!!

EN: As for the skirt, instead of hemming it with bias binding, the ladies of BHL constructed a facing which once again gives the dress a very clean and professional finish. I’m not going to lie, this dress has the nicest insides of all of the garments I have ever made. I now want to draft skirt facings for all my dresses (I hate having to draft anything…)

DE: Das einzige, was ich an dem Kleid ändern musste, war die Lange der Träger, ich weiß wirklich nicht was passiert ist, aber nachdem ich das fertige Kleid anprobiert hatte, hingen die Abnäher näher an meinem Bauchnabel als dort wo sie hingehörten (!!!) ich vermute, dass die Verlängerung des Oberteil und das Gewicht des Rocks zu diesem Drama geführt hatten… Ich habe die Träger um 1,5 Inch gekürzt und nun passt das Kleid perfekt!

EN: The only thing I had to fix, after I tried on the finished dress, was the length of my straps, I’m not sure what happened but the darts were suddenly closer to my belly button than they should have been (!!!) and made my chest look sad and droopy (YIKES!!!)…I think between me adding an extra inch to the bodice and the weight of the skirt, the dress decided to have a good laugh at me. Once I shortened the straps by 1.5 inch, I was really happy with the fit!

DE: Ich liebe mein neues Kleid und glaube, dass ich in den nächsten Wochen noch ein in Schwarzer Leine nähen werden, denn ein Little Black Dress fehlt schon seit geraumer Zeit in meiner Kleiderschrank. Weitere gut gekleideten Damen findet ihr heute beim MeMadeMittoch.

DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Ich hoffe ihr habt den Feiertag und den Brückentag mit viel Entspannung verbracht, ich habe meine Mama in Wien besucht und habe dort zwei nette Tage mit ihr, meiner besseren Hälfte und meinem Kater verbracht.

DE: Ich glaube zu meiner Vorliebe für Hemdblusenkleider (Vogue8577, Vintage Shirtdress 1, Vintage Shirtdress 2) muss ich nichts mehr sagen, ich liebe sie abgöttisch, sie sehen in allen Stoffen immer toll aus und es macht Spaß sie zu nähen. Bisher hatte ich immer meine beiden Favoriten, der M6996 und der Vintage Shirtdress von Sew Over It, zählen können, aber ich dachte, es wäre mal wieder an der Zeit mich an einen neuen Schnitt zu wagen.

En: I think it’s safe to say that I adore shirt dresses (Vogue8577, Vintage Shirtdress 1, Vintage Shirtdress2), I love everything about them, the fact that they look good in any fabric, the many buttons you get to sew on and that they can look both casual and dressy, depending on what fabric you use and how you style the Dress. In the past, I’ve always relied on my two faithful pattern the M6996 and the Vintage Shirtdress by Sew Over It. I will confess, that I can sew both dresses without looking at the instructions…which is why I thought I would venture out and try a new to me pattern.

DE: Vor einigen Wochen, sah ich Auf dem Blog von Judith Dee ihr McCalls 6891 Kleid, sie hatte es schon mehrmals genäht, und alle ihre Versionen sehen wirklich hinreißend aus, also bestellte ich den Schnitt und beschloss das Kleid mit dieser Monstera Baumwolle von Stoff und Stil zu nähen. Der Stoff ist wunderbar weich (damit hatte ich überhaupt nicht gerechnet!) leicht und fällt sooo schön. Für das Kleid selber habe ich 2,5 Meter benutzt die bis auf wenige Fetzten vollständig genutzt wurden. Außerdem habe ich 8 Knöpfe, mit dem gleichem Stoff bezogen, ich stehe im Augenblick total darauf Knöpfe zu beziehen, ich finde vor allem bei Hemdblusen Kleider sieht das Ton in Ton von Kleid mit Knöpfen phantastisch aus.

EN: A few weeks ago I saw that Judith Dee had sewn up the McCall’s 6891 shirt dress, she has made this Dress a few times before and I love every Version she’s sewn, which is why I ordered the pattern. I chose this Monstera Cotton from Stoff and Stil, which is both sooooooooo incredibly soft and floaty and drapey, I still can’t believe it’s cotton!! I used 2,5 meters to sew up the Dress and needed every centimetre (I KID YOU NOT!) and I covered 8 buttons with the same fabric. I’m currently addicted to covering buttons in the same fabric as the dresses that I am sewing, I think it gives the dress such a great vintage feel!!

DE: Was mir sehr gut an dem Schnitt gefallen hat, ist dass das Vordere Oberteil jeweils nach Größe gedruckt ist und man daher nur seine Größe ausschneiden muss, auch gibt es für die Armlöcher Belege (YIPPIE!!!) was meine Abneigung gegen annähen von Querband in den Armlöchern verpuffen lässt, YAS!!!! Ich habe Version A genäht, ohne Ärmel und ohne Gürtel. Der Rock ist ein halber Tellerrock der knielang fällt, ich habe schon Pläne geschieden diese Schnittmusterteile für einen Rock zu verwenden. =) Auch habe ich zum ersten Mal seit sehr langer Zeit mir die Mühe gemacht und Taschen in den Rock genäht, ich weiß überhaupt nicht, weshalb ich damit aufgehört habe!! TASCHEN SIND TOLL!

EN: What I really liked about the pattern is that all bodice sizes are printed separately, there is no looking for the line of your size and then trying to cut the pattern without damaging said lines.. YAS!!! Also, instead of finishing the arm cycles with bias binding, a real pet peeve of mine, they actually have facings, DOUBLE YAS!!!! I chose to make up Version A without sleeves or the sash. The skirt is a half circle skirt that falls just bellow your knee, I LOVE IT!!! In fact I love it so much, that I would very much like to just make the skirt in a flowery liberty with covered buttons at some time this summer. I also sewed in pockets, which I seem to have stopped doing more than a year ago. WHY?? POCKETS ARE GREAT!!

DE: Was mir nicht so gut an dem Schnitt gefallen hat, war die Konstruktion vom Kragen, und die Anleitung dazu. Ich finde es fehlt eine entscheidende Illustration in der Anleitung, da ich erst den Kragen mit den Belegen falsch herum an das Kleid genäht hatte was dazu führte, dass ich alles noch einmal heraustrennen musste und dann den Beleg und den Kragen auftrennen musste und alles richtig herum anheften musste. Hätte man von vor hinein nur ein Bild mit zusammen genähten Kragen und Beleg, würde das auch nicht passieren. Auch dass man den Unterkragen an das Kleid näht aber den Kragen an den Beleg und dann ewig umeinander pfriemelt, bis der Kragen und der Beleg ordentlich liegen, finde ich etwas ungeschickt (UND RAUBTE MIR DEN LETZTEN NERV!!!)

EN: What I really didn’t like about the pattern was the construction of the collar and the instructions for that part of the Dress. I feel that if McCall’s would have just added one more illustration depicting the facings attached to the collar, I wouldn’t have lost 2 years of my life. SEAMRIPPER TO THE RESCUE!!! I also didn’t like, that you attach the undercollar the Dress, then attach the collar to the facing and then sew the facing/collar to the Dress. The pieces that needed to align, were very fiddly and very annoying to sew, there are easier ways to do this!!!

DE: Man Fazit ist aber, dass mir das Kleid sehr gut gefällt und ich sehr froh bin, dass ich beim Kragen annähen dass Kleid nicht in meine UFO Kiste geworfen habe. Ich möchte es sehr gerne noch einmal nähen und wie schon oben erwähnt habe ich schon Pläne für den Rock!! Andere gut gekleideten Damen findet ihr heute unter MeMadeMittwoch.

EN: I do love how the Dress turned out and I am glad, I didn’t relegate the half finished Dress into my UFO box. I’d very much like to revisit the pattern again in the future and most definitely have plans for the skirt!
