DE: Guten Morgen Ihr Lieben! Na, habt ihr alle die erste Woche des neuen Jahres gut über die Bühne gebracht? Ich habe mir eine Ohrenentzündung eingefangen… und musste dann einen Tag daheim blieben, weil ich schreckliche Migräne und Ohrenschmerzen hatte… zum Glück ist das schlimmste vorbei und ich fühle mich auch wieder besser. Ich hatte auch Ende des Jahres noch einen Post bezüglich meiner Nähpläne fürs neue Jahr versprochen und die möchte ich heute mit euch teilen!
EN: Good morning everyone! I hope you sailed through the first week of the new year? Unfortunately, I managed to contract a nasty ear infection and had to spend a day in bed, because I also had a terrible migraine. Luckily the worst is over and I am starting to feel more like myself. Aspromised, I thought I’d fill you in, regarding my sewing plans for 2018.
DE: Ich habe im letzten Jahr ein Excel Sheet erstellt (ja das ist der Buchhalter in mir.. LOL) in dem ich alle meine genähten Projekte und die, die noch nicht fertig sind erfasst habe. Letztes Jahr sind 53 neue Klamotten, Decken und Accessoires dabei zusammen gekommen, viele trage ich immer noch und einiges hat ein Zuhause bei meiner Mutter oder bei der Kirche in unserem Dorf gefunden. Ich möchte in diesem Jahr diese Tabelle weiterführen und versuchen die wenigen Lücken, die in meinem Kleiderschrank sind, zu schließen. Vor allem, möchte ich nicht für das ganze Jahr meine Projekte planen, sondern lieber Quartalsweise (der Buchhalter in mir….) eine Liste erstellen, und dann tatsächlich nähen, was ich brauche oder worauf ich Lust habe.
EN: Last year I documented all of my makes and works in progress in an Excel sheet (that’s the accountant in me!!). As it turns out, I managed to make 53 garments, quits and other accessories, many of which I still love to wear and some, that were rehomed at my mom’ s and the local church. I will continue using my Excel sheet this year and I will attempt to close the few holes I still have in my closet. Most importantly, I don’t want to plan my projects for the whole year, instead I’d like to make a quarterly list (the accountant in me…) and then sew the things I actually need or whatever I feel like.
DE: Auch habe ich vor in diesem Jahr aktiv bei der Stoffdiät bei Frau Kuestensocke mitzumachen . ICH BESITZE ZU VIEL STOFF!!!! Ich habe mir bis März eine Online Shopping sperre verpasst, das wird schwer genug, denn ich kenne mich und jedes Mal wenn ich sehe, was es neues bei Blackbird Fabrics oder Fabric Godmother oder sonst wo werde ich schwach und schlage zu. Ich möchte versuchen im ersten Quartal viele von den Stoffen in meinem Lager zu vernähen, denn die warten teilweise schon seit Jahren darauf, endlich verwendet zu werden. Ich habe mir aber für die nächsten 3 Monate 2 Ausnahmen erlaubt: Ich bin im Februar für ein Wochenende in Birmingham und werde dort mit Sicherheit den Ragmarket besuchen (soll ich dazu einen Post machen?) und bestimmt wandert dort etwas in meinen Koffer. Im März bin ich für 2 Wochen in Amerika und da werde ich in San Francisco auf jeden Fall noch einmal zu Britex gehen und bei Joann’s Kurzwaren und Quilting Stoffe kaufen. Um dort nicht völlig außer Rand und Band zu geraten, werde ich mir vorher ein Budget geben und mich strikt daran halten…
EN: This year I really want to actively take part in Frau Kuestensocke’s Fabric Diet! I OWN TOO MUCH FABRIC!!!! I’ve decided to give myself an online fabric buying ban until the end of March, as I constantly get tempted by whatever is new on Blackbird Fabrics or Fabric Godmother and then break all my rules and buy things…My first quarter plans, are sewing from my stash, however I am giving myself 2 exceptions: I will be in Birmingham for a weekend in February and I will most definitely be visiting the Ragmarket (shall I write a post about it?) and I will be in America in March, and plan to visit Britex in San Francisco and will be stocking up on notions and quilting fabrics at Joann’s. I ensure that I don’t break the bank during these 3 excursions, I will be giving myself a budget, that I will have to stick to.
DE: Ok, kommen wir zu den erfreulicheren Sachen: Was will ich eigentlich im ersten Quartal nähen??? JACKEN JACKEN JACKEN!!!! Bis Ende März möchte ich einen neuen Deer und Doe Luezern Trench nähen, mein Rosafarbener sieht langsam wirklich schrecklich aus… das passiert wenn man billige Stoffe verwendet.. =( Auch steht ein Kelly Anorak an, den habe ich letztes Jahr im März ausgeschnitten…. OHNE WORTE!!! Und der wartet schon die ganze Zeit darauf, dass ich mich endlich erbarme um ihn zu nähe!! Ich habe diesen Mimi G Mantel auch schon ausgeschnitten und mit Vlieseline bebügelt und Thinsulate daran gesteppt und der wartet auch schon seit 2 Monaten darauf fertig gestellt zu werden…. Auch habe ich einen tollen Linton Tweed Stoff in meinem Lager, der sehr gerne ein Papercut Patterns Sapporo Coat werden möchte. Wie ihr sehen könnt, habe ich alle Stoffe und alle Schnitte, es gibt also keine Ausreden.
EN: So let’s dig in to my sewing plans for the first quarter!! What am I planning to sew? COATS COATS COATS!!! Until the end of March, I’d like to sew a new Deer and Doe Luzerne Trench Coat, as my blush pink one is starting to fall apart…that’s what happens when you buy cheap fabrics….I’d also like to sew a Kelly Anorak, as I actually cut it out last March… THERE ARE NO WORDS!!!! I’ve also already cut out and interlined this Mimi G coat 2 months ago, so it’s time to finish it up….I bought some amazing Linton Tweed a few years ago and I think it would look amazing as a Papercut Patterns Sapporo coat, as I have all the patterns and the fabrics, there really aren’t any excuses!!!
DE: Was mir vor allem in meiner Garderobe fehlt, sind Klamotten zum “herumlungern”, wie mein Vater gesagt hätte. Sweatpants, Leggings, gemütliche T-Shirt und Sweatshirts. Ich habe mich bisher immer ein wenig davor gedrückt, weil ich dann doch lieber etwas spannendere Projekte nähe, aber alle meine alten T-Shirt, sehen furchtbar aus und meine Leggings haben Löcher und meine Sweatshirt haben Flecken die beim waschen nicht heraus gehen…Ich möchte ein Paar True Bias Hudson Pants und Grainline Studios Linden Sweatshirts nähen. Auch habe ich mir dieses Buch von Schnittchen nach Weihnachten gegönnt und möchte es euch in einem anderem Post vorstellen, vorher werde ich noch ein paar Sachen daraus nähen um es euch dann näher zu bringen! Ich habe genug Sweatstoffe und Jersey Stoffe in meinem Lager so dass dies kein großes Problem werden sollte.
EN: What I really need to sew are lounge wear, I’ve know that I really need to do something about this, but I always end up sewing flashier things. But since all my t-shirts look terrible and my leggings have holes and my sweatshirts have stains that don’t wash out.. I really need to do something about them. I would like to sew some True Bias sweatpants and Grainline Studios Linden sweatshirts. I also bought this book by Schnittchen Pattern over the holidays and am planning to write a post about it, but I’ll have to sew a few things out of it first. I have enough sweat fabrics in jerseys in my stash, that it shouldn’t be too hard to do.
DE: Ich brauche auch noch ein paar Basics für die Arbeit, ich möchte gerne noch von Megan Nielsen diesen Rowan Bodysuit nähen, dafür habe ich Bamboo Jersey in meinem Lager und vielleicht noch ein oder zwei Archer Hemden oder Deer and Doe Melilot Blusen, ich habe nämlich seit 2 Jahre keine neuen Hemden genäht und die, die in meinem Schrank hingen wurden ausgemistet, weil sie mir zu klein waren. BUUHHH!!!
EN: I also need a few basics for the office, I’d like to sew up the Megan Nielsen Rowan bodysuit, I’ve earmarked some bamboo jersey in my stash for it and I’d also love to sew a few Archer shirts and Melilot blouses. I haven’t sewn an Archer shirt in 2 years, and the ones that I sewed up before no longer fit me and have found homes with other people.
DE: Und dieses Jahr möchte ich deutlich mehr quilten!!!!! Ich habe schon 2 Decken soweit fertig, die müssen nur noch gequiltet werden, ich würde nämlich gerne zum Frühjahr mein Wohnzimmer etwas umgestalten… ich habe noch so alte, total schreckliche Quilts dort liegen, die weder zu mir noch dem Wohnzimmer passen….RAUS MIT DEM ALTEN MÜLL!! Und zur guter Letzt möchte ich wenigstens 1 Paar Socken oder eine Mütze stricken. Ihr werdet es nicht glauben, ich bin von den Strickerinnen zu den Näherinnen gewandert, vor einigen Jahren habe ich 4 Strickjacken und unzähligen Mützen und Schals pro Jahr gestrickt und seit fast 3 Jahren habe ich gar nichts mehr gestrickt….=( Das will ich dieses Jahr ändern, auch habe ich noch so ein großes Wolllager, dass ich gerne auflösen möchte oder zumindest schrumpfen möchte. Mal gucken.
EN: I really want to do a lot more quilting this year!! I’ve already assembled 2 quilt top and the coordinating backing, all I need to do is sit down and quilt them. I’d like to switch up my living room this spring and get rid of the two ghastly quilts that currently are lying there!!! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!! I’d also love to knit up a pair of socks or a new hat. You won’t believe it, but I used to be a massive knitter and my output was something crazy like 4 cardigans, tons of hats and scarves a year. Ever since I started sewing my knitting has suffered and I don’t think I’ve done any knitting in the past 3 years. I still have quite a large wool stash and would love to put a real dent in it, this year. We’ll see.
DE: So, das wären also meine Pläne bis Ende März. Ich werde mein bestes tun aber ich werde mich nicht dazu zwingen. Nähen soll weiterhin mein Hobby bleiben und mir weiterhin Spaß machen. =) Ich bin übrigens nächstes Wochenende in Starnberg, auf einem Nähwochenende und plane alle meine UFOs, die sich im letzten Jahr angesammelt haben, mitzunehmen und fertig zu stellen. EN: Those, these are my plans until the end of March. I will do my best to work through all of them, but I will not make myself sew things, when I don’t want to. Sewing is my hobby and I want to continue to be fun! By the way, I am headed to Starnberg next Saturday for a sewing weekend, I’ve decided to dig up all my UFOs and plan on finally finishing a bunch of projects that weekend. DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Ich hoffe ihr seid alle gut ins neue Jahr gerutscht und habt ordentlich mit Freunden und Familie gefeiert. Ich habe mit meiner besseren Hälfte und meinem Kater Henry Raclette gegessen, bis die Nachbarn angefangen haben zu böllern… dann hat sich der Henry unters Bett versteckt, weil er eine Mimose ist….armes Ding. Heute zeige ich euch mein 
DE: Im Februar habe ich meinen allerersten Blogpost live geschaltet und euch mein 
DE: Wir haben noch auf dem letzten Drücker, Stonehenge und London besucht und Henry wurde langsam klar, dass ein großer Umbruch anstand, da die Möbel in der Wohnung immer weniger wurden und damit seine Lieblings Schlafplätze auch rar wurden.
DE: Zum krönenden Abschluss, bin ich dann am letzten Wochenende vor meinem Umzug auf den Dressmakers Ball in Leicester gegangen und habe mich von einigen Nähfreundinnen verabschiedet. Die verrückte Geschichte zu meinem Ballkleid findet ihr 
DE: Zurück in Deutschland genoss ich es wieder einen Garten zu haben, wir haben jedes Wochenende (!!!!) gegrillt und Henry hat mit den Igeln im Garten Freundschaften geschlossen. Ich habe mich mit meinen Freunden getroffen und mich an Deutschem Essen satt gegessen und meine Mama in Wien besucht.
DE: Es folgte ein heißer Sommer, voller Hochzeiten, lauen Abenden mit Freunden und Kurtrips nach Italien und Schweden und dem Sewing Weekender im August. Ich bin einen Tag vorher zurück nach Birmingham geflogen und habe bei Barry’s und dem Ragmarket mich mit sehr viel Stoff eingedeckt….alles wieder in meinem Koffer unter zubringen gestaltetet sich dann als schwierig und ich habe mir dann 4 Meter Viskose als Halstuch umgehängt😂😂😂😂😂 Beim Sewing Weekender in Cambridge, konnte ich die alte Birmingham Truppe wieder sehen und natürlich auch viele neue Gesichter kennen lernen.
DE: Der Herbst war schön warm, wir waren noch auf der Hochzeit einer sehr lieben Freundin, ich habe noch auf den letzen Drücker ein 
DE: Im Herbst habe ich dann endlich beschlossen mich besser zu ernähren und nicht mehr den Kantinenfraß jeden Tag in mich hinein zustopfen und habe wieder angefangen neue Rezepte auszuprobieren und 2 mal wöchentlich auf den Crosstrainer zu steigen! Da endlich mein verschobener Sommerurlaub anstand, habe ich noch kurzfristig ein paar Sachen genäht und war beim packen meines Koffers, sehr stolz, da alle meine Kleidungsstücke von mir stammen!
DE: Unser Urlaub nach USA war alles, was ich mir erhofft hatte. Wir hatten unheimlich Glück mit dem Wetter, sind mit dem Auto von Kalifornien nach Nevada und Arizona gefahren, haben in Las Vegas “O” von Cirque du Soleil gesehen, waren bei den Grand Canyon. Und ja…. ich war bei Joann’s und habe einen ganzen Einkaufswagen mit Stoffen vollgepackt….viele davon haben es mit mir nach Hause geschafft🙈🙈🙈🙈Ich war sehr traurig, als wir wieder nach Deutschland zurück geflogen sind.
DE: Meine liebe Freundin Victoria, hat mich zur Adventszeit besucht und wir haben einige Weihnachtsmärkte in München unsicher gemacht und haben viel zu viel Süßkram gegessen. Zu Weihnachten haben meine bessere Hälfte und ich dann ganz entspannt zu zweit Raclette gemacht. Solltest du dir immer noch meinen Post durchlesen, verneige ich mich vor dir! Das ist deutlich länger geworden, als ich eigentlich geplant hatte….mir ist erst jetzt klar geworden, was wir alles dieses Jahr gemacht haben. Ich möchte an diesem Punkt erwähnen, dass ich dieses Jahr 53 neue Kleidungsstücke genäht habe und zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben eine Sommer und Wintergarderobe habe!!!! Ich habe mir schon ein paar Gedanken darüber gemacht, was ich alles im neuem Jahr nähen möchte, dafür wird es pünktlich zum neuen Jahr dann einen Blogpost geben! Ich wünsche euch allen einen guten Rutsch in neue Jahr!

Es ist soweit, der letzte Mittwoch in diesem Jahr, an dem ich mich in die Arbeit schleppen muss, mich vor meinem Rechner setzen muss und mal wieder überlegen muss, was mein Passwort ist (!!!) GOTT SEI DANK, ES IST VOLLBRACHT!!! Dieses Jahr werden wir Weihnachten nur zu zweit feiern (und mit der Katze!!), viel entspannen und vielleicht sogar etwas nähen. Es wird Raclette zu essen geben und ich überlege immer noch, ob ich mir noch auf den letzten Drücker ein Weihnachtskleid nähen möchte….mal gucken, das entscheide ich dann am Freitag.
EN: Good morning everyone! It’s the last Wednesday this year, on which I will have to drive myself to the office, sit down in front of my Computer and then struggle to remember my password (!!) THANK GOD, IT’S OVER!!!! This year, we will be celebrating Christmas on a much smaller scale, just the two of us (and the cat!), I plan on making Raclette, resting and relaxing and maybe even getting some sewing done!! I’m still deciding whether to sew myself a last minute Christmas Dress, I suppose I shall make a decision on Friday… we’ll see.

DE: Ich habe wieder die Größe 10 verwendet, glaube aber, dass ich beim nächsten Mal eine Nummer kleiner wählen sollte, in den Bildern ist mir aufgefallen, dass das Oberteil vorne links etwas groß wirkt…. Das kann aber auch daran liegen dass ich beim fotografieren ziemlich herum geturnt bin, weil es so schrecklich kalt war und das Kleid verrutscht ist. Nur zur Info: meine bessere Hälfte stand in der Küchentür und hat mich von dort aus fotografiert ohne einen Fuß in den Garten zu setzten…..weil es ihm auch zu kalt war… LOL…
EN: I sewed up a size 10 again, I do think I might have to size down if I ever make this pattern again, as it does look like there’s a lot of fabric on the front left side…or maybe the dress just shifted, because I moving so much …because I was sooo cold. By the way, the Mister stood in the doorway of the kitchen and took the photos from there, without setting a foot into the backyard… because he thought it was too cold, too… hahahahah
DE: Was soll ich sagen, der Winter ist hier und das Jahr ist vorbei. Es ist soooo viel passiert dieses Jahr ich bin von England zurück nach Deutschland gezogen, bin sehr viel gereist und habe noch viel mehr genäht! Ich überlege, ob ich nicht im neuem Jahr, einen monatlichen Round-up Post für meinen Blog machen soll, in dem ich zusammen schreibe, was sich getan hat….Es würde viele Katzenbilder geben….und Bilder von Sachen die ich essen…. Aber ich denke, das wäre gar nichts mal so schlecht.. Was meint Ihr? Fall wir uns nicht mehr hören wünsche ich euch Frohe Weihnachten und einen Guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr und natürlich weiterhin viel Spaß beim Nähen.
EN: Winter is here and the year is nearly over. I can’t believe how fast it went!! So many crazy things happened, I moved from the UK back to Germany and started a new job and did quite a bit of travelling (and sewing!!). I am contemplating starting a monthly round up of all the things I’ve been up to, which would involve lots of cat and food pictures, what do you think? Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Da in meinem Garten alles tot ist und der Schnee den Rasen in eine eklige Matsch-Pampe verwandelt hat und ich mich null dazu motivieren konnte mich vor die Tür zu begeben, habe ich mich dazu entschieden, weiterhin Bilder von meinem Urlaub auf meinem Blog zu verwenden, weil es mein Blog is…und ich das darf. DE: Guten morgen ihr Lieben, mein Urlaub neigt sich leider dem Ende. Wir sind gerade in Las Vegas und haben in den letzten Tagen die Stadt unsicher gemacht haben im Bellagio Casino Blackjack gespielt und “O” von Cirque de Soleil geschaut , was sehr beeindruckend war. Heute waren wir im Lower Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend und dem Grand Canyon. Das war alles unheimlich spektakulär und ich mag eigentlich noch gerne mindestens 6 Wochen bleiben… aber die Arbeit und mein Kater rufen… das Leben ist halt kein Ponyhof.
EN: As I was able to experience the entire Black Friday/ Cyber Monday craziness from the US, I will hereby out myself for dashing to Joann’s on Monday morning, as all the quilting cottons were 50% off and all the notions were also half price, once I handed over my digital coupon (!!!). I see a really pretty quilt and a pair of fun pajamas in my near future! You can see my shopping cart above… 🙈🙈🙈

EN: Good morning everyone! It’s the first Wednesday of my vacation and I’m writing to you from sunny California, where I will be spending the next two weeks buying all the fabrics (and bankrupting myself) and stuffing my face with burgers 🍔 from In–N–Out Burger!!! I managed to sew a whole bunch of things for this trip (and nearly killed myself by doing so….why oh why do I think its a great idea to sew an entire new wardrobe in 10 days???)and have already informed the Mister that he will have to moonlight as my official in-house photographer for the next few weeks, because my blog needs some new content… he is understandably not impressed but will get over it!!! hahahahaha Right, I’d like to show you my new dress 
EN: Florence comes in two lengths, (since I don’t wear maxi dresses, I chose the midi length) has 3/4 sleeves, a button placket and an elastic waistband and definitely has a groovy 70ies vibe. As I love as the fashions from that era, I downloaded Florence the moment she was released and sent the file to my copy shop (this was a Thursday) and had the printed copy shop file in my mailbox by Friday afternoon. Seriously, ever since I switched to copy shop files and stopped taping PDF files together, my life makes more sense!!! hahahahahah
EN: I chose a viscose from my stash that I purchased in Birmingham but unfortunately, can’t remember where, which is a shame, because the quality of this viscose is out of this world. It’s a bit thinker than anything I have ever worked with but is still wonderfully drapey. I chose to sew up a size 10, but I Would definitely size up, as the my shoulders need a tiny bit more wiggle room. The only thing I changed, was adding an extra inch to the waist, by using the scientific method of staring at Lisa Comforts ( she’s the founder and model of SOI) picture and if the garment sits on her waist, I have to add an inch😂😂😂😂😂 Yes… this is how I roll… please don’t judge me….
EN: The construction of the dress was super straight forward. I cut out the dress on a Saturday afternoon and even thought I took a lot of breaks to go grocery shopping and to tidy up the house, I still managed to finish the dress on the same day!! I finished all the seams using my temperamental overlocker and sewed on some buttons a dear friend gifted to me. I’m sooo pleased with this dress and am planning a few more to get me through winter and spring. We took the pics in the backyard of my godmother’s garden in Santa Barbara. I really love the lemon tree and the fruit tastes so much better than the stuff you get at the supermarket! By the way I watched “Queen of the South” on Netflix, while making this dress and really enjoyed it. It’s based on a Mexican telenovela about a very strong woman that becomes the head of a drug cartel!!! Trust me… give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!!!
