DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Es ist Winter, es schneit, die meisten normalen Menschen kuscheln sich mit ihren Liebsten ein und trinken Glühwein…..und ich zeige euch heute meinen tropischen Kimono… weil ich ein unausstehlicher Mensch bin! LOL! Es tut mir Leid, Winter ist schlicht und ergreifend nicht meine Jahreszeit. Wenn ich morgens meine Einfahrt räumen muss und dann die Scheibe von meinem Auto freikratzen muss nur um das Ganze dann abends auf dem Firmenparkplatz zu wiederholen…möchte ich bittere Tränen weinen.

EN: Good Morning everyone! Winter is here, it’s snowing and normal human beings spend their time snuggling with their loved ones and drinking mulled wine…and I am showing you my tropical Kimono… because I am obviously an obnoxious person! LOL! I’m sorry, Winter simply isn’t my season, if I think of clearing my driveway, scraping the ice off my windscreen in the morning and then AGAIN late at night, while standing on the company parking lot… I want to burst into tears.

 DE: Deshalb, gibt es heute einen von 3 (!!!) Suki Kimonos von Helen’s Closet, die ich noch im Oktober genäht habe. Ich habe im August, als ich in Birmingham zu Besuch war, einen kurzen Abstecher beim Rag Market in der Innenstadt gemacht und habe 3x 4 Meter (ja ich habe einen Knall!) Viskose gekauft. Der Preis dafür waren schlappe 24 GBP also war der Preis gar nicht so schlecht. Mein Plan war, passende Nachthemden mit Kimonos zu nähen, was mir sogar recht gut geglückt ist…. Aber die Träger sind leider nach einem Waschgang total ausgefranst… und zwar bei allen 3 Nachthemden…  Ich  glaube, ich habe die Nahtzugabe bei den Trägern zu aggressiv abgeschnitten … und habe nun keinen extra Stoff um neue Träger zu machen… =( Ich habe überlegt ob ich einfach den Saum verkürze und mit den Resten neue Träger nähe mal gucken….

EN: Which is why I am sharing one of three (!!!) Suki Kimonos from Helen’s Closet, that I sewed in October. When I visited Birmingham in August, I managed to squeeze in a quick pit-stop at the Rag Market and bought 3×4 meters (yes, I am crazy!!) viscose. I paid 24 pounds for everything, that I thought was quite a deal. My plan was to sew nighties with matching kimonos out of the fabric… which I actually did, however the straps of all three nighties frayed like crazy after I put them in the wash  (NOT COOL AT ALL!) and now I no longer have any matching fabric left BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I thought I might just shorten the nighties and use the access fabric for new straps…we shall see….

 DE: Kommen wir zum eigentlichen, dem Kimono! Das Muster ist von Helen’s Closet, Helen hat übrigens auch einen wöchentlichen Podcast, den “Love Sewing Podcast” den ich abgöttisch liebe. Der Schnitt ist recht einfach zu nähen ich glaube ich habe für alles 3 Stunden gebraucht und habe Französische Nähte für alles verwendet. Da der Stoff recht luftig ist, war er der perfekte Begleiter in meinem Urlaub. Ich hatte beim Koffer packen noch kurz überlegt, ob ich alle 3 Kimonos zum fotografieren mitnehmen sollte…. habe ich aber nicht gemacht…. denn ich hatte ja auch ein paar Stoffkaufpläne und da habe ich jeden Platz im Koffer gebraucht.

EN: Let’s talk about the Kimono! The pattern is from Helen’s Closet, Helen actually has a fantastic podcast called “The Love Sewing Podcast” which I am addicted to, go check it out! I think it took me about 3 hours to make up this kimono and I used French seams through out the entire garment, to make it extra special. The fabric is really light and drapey and was a great piece for my travels, a few weeks ago. While I was packing my suitcase I was contemplating packing all three kimonos so I could take proper pics, and then thought better of it. Let’s be honest I needed every extra inch in my suitcase for my fabric purchases!

DE: Ich habe meine bessere Hälfte dazu überredet noch am letzten Abend Bilder zu schießen und war recht entzückt, dass die Hibiskus Blumen so gut zu meinem Kimono gepasst haben. EN: I was able to persuade the Mister to take the pics on the last night of our stay in California. I was so pleased that the hibiscus flowers matched my Kimono. SO I am just going to stare at my vacation pics and wait until spring has sprung! Wishing you all a great week.
