DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Es ist Dezember, Weihnachten steht vor der Tür und ich fühle mich gerade ziemlich ausgelaugt. Es war ein langes Jahr mit vielen Höhen und ich bin froh, wenn ich nächste Woche ein paar Tage ausschlafen kann, gutes Essen verschlingen darf und auf dem Sofa liegen kann und mit meinem Kater Henry Netflix gucken kann. NUR NOCH 3 TAGE!!!!

EN: Good morning everyone! It’s December, Christmas is nearly here and I feel rather shattered. It was a very long year with lots of highs but I am really looking forward to sleeping in, inhaling great food and lying on the sofa with my cat and watching crap on Netflix! ONLY 3 MORE DAYS TO GO!

DE: Kommen wir zum eigentlichem: meinem 4ten Mantel in dieser Wintersaison! Ich hatte mir am Anfang des Jahres die Aufgabe gestellt, dieses Jahr für den Winter mit mehreren Mänteln und Jacken ausgerüstet zu sein – und das habe ich auch geschafft. Ich weiß immer noch nicht, wie ich das hinbekommen habe, aber das ist nun der 4 Mantel in knapp 2 Monaten… und eigentlich habe ich noch Pläne für 2 weitere… VIELLEICHT… VIELLEICHT BRAUCHE ICH JETZT EINFACH NUR SCHLAF!!!

EN: Let’s get this Blogpost started: My 4th coat of the winter season! I had promised myself, earlier this year, I this winter, I would make myself a range of coats and jackets and I have done just that. I’m still not sure how on earth I managed to make 4 coats over a span of 2 months…and while I still have plans for 2 others…. I REALLY NEED TO SLEEP… SOO MAYBE NEXT YEAR??

DE: Genäht habe ich von StyleArc ihren Stella Mantel, ein sehr schicker Mantel mit einem großen Revers und einem Stehkragen. Ich habe schon ein paar Sachen von StyleArc genäht und habe mir den Schnitt in Größe 10 zusenden lassen. Das hat aus Australien knapp eine Woche gedauert, die bieten aber auch PDFs und Copyshop Dateien an! 😜 Ich habe keinen Probemantel genäht. Ich habe die einzelnen Stücke ausgemessen und meinte dann: “PASST SCHON!“ Ich hatte ausnahmsweise sogar recht!!

EN: I sewed up the StyleArc Stella Coat, a really chic wrap coat with a mandarin collar. I’ve made up a few things from StylArc in the past, so I knew to order a size 10 and had it sent to me from Australia. The pattern arrived within a week. I didn’t bother making a muslin. Instead I measured out the pattern pieces and decided “It’ll fit!” and for once I was right! HAHAHAHA

DE: Ich habe diesen Woll-Kaschmir Mantelstoff von The Sweet Mercerie verwendet. Das ist zwar ein stolzer Preis pro Meter, aber der Stoff ist sehr dick, weich und flauschig und ich bin froh, dass ich mich dafür entschieden habe. Ich habe alle Schnittmuster Teile mit einer dünnen Vlieseline beklebt um dem Mantel etwas Stand zu geben und habe ihn ohne Änderungen zusammen genäht. Die Nahtzugaben sind auf den Schnittmusterstücken eingezeichnet – daher habe ich die Anleitung nicht verwendet. Ich habe mittlerweile schon so viele Mäntel und Jacken genäht, dass ich mich da schon durchschlängeln kann.

EN: The fabric I used was a wonderful wool/cashmere coating from The Sweet Mercerie. The price is quite steep, but totally worth it. The fabric is thick and soft and fluffy and I have no regrets purchasing it. I ironed on a thin interfacing to all pieces to make the coat a bit more sturdy and sewed it up without any alterations. All the seam allowances are marked on the pattern pieces, and I didn’t bother using the instructions…. At this point I’ve made up so many jackets and coats, that I just sew up things my way.

DE: Für das Futter habe ich einen Krepp-Satin verwendet, den ich vor einigen Jahren am Birmingham Ragmarket gekauft habe. Ich habe den Mantel über einen Zeitraum von fast 2 Wochen genäht, erst habe ich alle Stücke ausgeschnitten und dann lag alles 5 Tage umeinander, weil ich so viel in der Arbeit zu tun hatte und zu nicht gekommen bin. Dann hatten wir Gäste und zur guter Letzt war ich in Italien auf Dienstreise. PUH… Als ich Sonntagmittag dann ENDLICH fertig war habe ich mich in mein Bett gelegt und eine Runde geschlafen. HAHAHAH

EN: I used a satin crepe from the Birmingham Ragmarket, that I bought a number of years ago. It took me about 2 weeks to finish this coat: First I cut out all the pieces, and then spent really long days at the office, and then we had guests and to top it all off I had to fly to Italy on business. When I finally finished the coat on Sunday I went to take a nap on my bed. HAHAHAHAAH

DE: Ich habe außerdem diesen Ludlow Schal gestrickt, der hervorragend zu diesem Mantel passt. Das mit Ludlow ist eine lange Geschichte… den Schal habe ich vor 4 Jahren angefangen und habe ihn dann kurz vor meinem Umzug nach Großbritannien in die Ecke geworfen und ihn vergessen. Ich habe während dieser Zeit auch überhaupt nichts gestrickt, obwohl ich das sehr gerne getan habe. Im späten Sommer dieses Jahres verfolgte ich dann einige Näherinnen auf IG, die das Stricken liebgewonnen hatten und beschloss meine Strick-Ufos anzugucken und siehe da – Ludlow lag in einem Karton und wartete darauf fertig gestellt zu werden.

EN: I also knitted this Ludlow scarf. Making this scarf is a bit of a long story… I had initially started making up this scarf 4 years ago, and abandoned it right before I moved to the UK. I stopped knitting during this time, which is a bit of a shame, as I really enjoy knitting to be honest. Anyway, fast forward to this summer, when a number of people I follow on IG started to pick up knitting and I decided I should have a look at my knitting UFOs… and then I found the Ludlow Scarf in a box, just waiting for me to finish it.

DE: Ich werde nicht lügen, dieser Schal benötigt SEHR VIEL WOLLE, ich glaube zum Schluss waren es 14 Knäul Alta Moda Fine von Lana Grossa ( Das Garn wird doppelt gehalten und verstrickt)… es stellte sich außerdem heraus, das Lana Grossa dieses Garn eingestellt hatte und ich konnte es NIERGENDS MEHR BESTELLEN!!!!! Ich war mit den Nerven am Ende und setzte einen SOS Hilfeschrei auf Instagram ab und meine liebe Freundin Iris, die in den Niederlanden wohnt, fand vor Ort ein Geschäft, das diese Wolle in dieser Farbe hatte!!! GERETTET!!!

EN: I will not lie, this scarf uses up a ridiculous amount of wool… I think the final total was something like 14 balls of Alta Moda Fine from Lana Grossa. To add insult to injury, it turns out during my break from knitting, Lana Grossa decided to discontinue this line of yarn and I ran out – and couldn’t find it anywhere! At wits end, I sent off an SOS on Instagram begging for help and asking anyone if they had this wool in their stash. My dear friend Iris, who is based out of the Netherlands found a shop, that still sold this wool in this color, THANK YOU IRIS!!!!

DE: Die Mütze habe ich auch vor Jahren mal gestrickt, ich muss das Strickmuster mal suchen, denn ich kann mich beim besten Willen nicht mehr daran erinnern wie es heißt noch von wem es ist… SO SORRRY. Sollte ich es finden, werde ich es auf meinem IG posten. Ich liebe diesen Mantel aber ich brauch jetzt echt mal eine Auszeit von so aufwendigen Projekten… ich denke, ich werde über die Feiertage mal ein paar super einfache Sachen nähen. EN: I knitted this hat a number of years ago and I really need to figure out what pattern I used… I can’t remember…so sorry. If I do manage to figure out where I got this pattern from , I promise to post it on my IG. I really, really love my coat but I really need to take a break from making such time intensive projects. I think I might just make some really easy things during the holidays.

DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Nachdem ich mich mal 4 Wochen von meinem Blog verabschiedet habe, weil ich erst im Urlaub war und dann in Arbeit ertrunken bin, wurde es wieder Zeit meine Projekte mit euch zu teilen. Passend zum tollen Herbstwetter, habe ich einen neuen Mantel genäht!

EN: Good morning everyone! After abandoning my blog for 4 weeks, as I was on vacation and was then subsequently drowning in work… I am really looking forward to sharing my projects with you once again. Since we have now entered Autumn, it was time for a new coat.

DE: Ich sollte damit beginnen, dass ich vorletztes Wochenende in Possenhofen auf dem #NähenamSee Wochenende war, an dem ich unheimlich viele UFOs und neue Projekte fertig gestellt haben. Einen Blogpost dazu, werdet ihr in den kommenden Tagen hier vorfinden. Mein Plan war meine Herbst/Wintergarderobe etwas aufzubessern, nachdem ich im September meinen Schrank wieder ausgemistet habe.

EN: I should probably tart by mentioning, that I spent the last weekend before last in Posenhofen at the Starnberger Lake participating in a sewing retreat. I promise to drop a short blogost about that in the coming days. My plan was to replenish my autumn/winter clothes, after I purged a number of things in September, when it was time to store away the summer clothes.

DE: Auch stand ein neuer Mantel an. Ich hatte letztes Jahr zwar schon einen genäht, aber ich war nicht wirklich mit der Passform zufrieden und die Ärmel waren etwas zu kurz… weshalb ich mich für den Sew Over It Cocoon Coat entschieden habe. Den Cocoon Coat habe ich in Größe 12 genäht und dafür einen relativ dicken Wollstoff von Barry’s verwendet, den ich im August gekauft habe, als ich geschäftlich in Birmingham war.

EN: It was also time for a new coat. I had sewn one earlier this year, but I was not happy with the fit and the sleeves were just too short…Alas, this time I decided to sew up the Sew Over It Cocoon coat. I sewed up a size 12 with no alterations using thick red wool coating from Barry’s that I got in August, when I was in Birmingham on business.

DE: Eigentlich hatte ich vor den ganzen Mantel mit Thinsulate zu füttern, damit der Mantel besonders warm sein würde. Als ich jedoch das Thinsulate mit dem Futter in den Mantel festgesteckt hatte und in den Mantel hineingeschlüpft war, sagten die meisten Damen im Treffen, dass der Mantel nun unheimlich unvorteilhaft aussah (hust Michelin Männchen… Hust Käferbuckel HHAHAHA). Gott sei danke hatte ich noch nicht festgesteppt und habe einfach die Thinsulate in meinen Korb verpackt… ich werde es für ein anderes Projekt verwenden.

EN: I had initially planned to interline the entire coat with thinsulate, however once I pinned the thinsulate and the lining to the coat and tried it on, everyone at the sewing retreat said it looked ghastly… they were right… CAN YOU SAY HUMPBACK FROM NOTRE DAME??? Anyway, since I hadn’t basted anything, I just pulled out the thinsulate, folded it and put it back into my sewing basket… it will be used for something else.

DE: Für das Futter habe ich Popeline von Art Gallery verwendet und einen Satinstoff für die Ärmel, damit ich besser in den Mantel schlüpfen konnte. Ich bin ziemlich glücklich mit der Kombi vom roten Mantelstoff und dem Schwarz-Weißem Futter. Ich habe einen Druckknopf an die Jacke genäht den mir die liebe Simone geschenkt hat, da ich selbst, weder eine Schere noch Knöpfe eingepackt hatte….OHNE WORTE!!!

EN: I lined the coat with Art Gallery poplin and satin in the sleeve, which makes getting in and out of the coat easy. I’m quite happy with the color combo of the red coating with the black and white lining. I hand sewed on a snap, that the lovely Simone gifted to me, as I not only managed to forget to pack my scissors but also all my buttons and snaps… SERIOUSLY????

DE: Ganz herzlich möchte ich mich bei Anna bedanken, welche die heutigen Bilder von mir am Starnberger See geschossen hat. Es macht wirklich viel mehr Spaß Fotos mit jemanden zu schießen, der versteht wie man das neue Projekt zur Geltung bringen kann und ganz ehrlich immer nur mit dem Tripod umeinander zu eiern ist auf Dauer doof. Ich wünsche euch einen guten Start in den November und hoffentlich auch weiterhin gutes Wetter. Schaut doch bei Creadienstag vorbei, dort werdet ihr weitere gut gekleidete Damen finden.

DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Ich hoffe, ihr habt alle den Brücken- und Feiertag gut überstanden und startet am heutigen Mittwoch mit viel Elan in den Tag. Ich habe am Wochenende daheim viel gewirbelt, mit dem Wechsel der Jahreszeiten will man plötzliches alles putzen und herrichten und aussortieren….. und meine bessere Hälfte hat den Garten auf vorderman gebracht, weil ich leider keinen grünen Daumen habe, er dafür umso mehr.

EN: Good morning everybody! I spent the weekend spring/autumn cleaning my house, why is it, that every time the season change we all want to clean and reorganise and toss out things that we don’t care for? The Mister sorted out the backyard, as I do not have any gardening talents, at all!

DE: Da ich schon letzte Woche das Herbstnähen eingeläutet habe, wollte ich euch nun meinen neuen Trench vorstellen, den ich am Sonntag, ENDLICH fertig gestellt habe. Den Mantel hatte ich schon im August ausgeschnitte, konnte mich aber überhaupt nicht dazu motivieren ihn zu nähen…. Der Schnitt ist von dem Französischem Label Orageuse, das ich unheimlich modern finde und ganz meinem Geschmackt trifft. Ich hatte im Frühjahr schon 2 Trench Coats nach dem Muster von Deer and Doe genäht und den Rosafarbenen zu Tode getragen (der Stoff gibt leider gerade nach… das kommt davon wenn man mit minderwertigem Material arbeitet!!) was natürlich bedeutet, dass ganz schnell ein neuer her musste!!

EN: Last week I rang in the start of autumn sewing, which is why I will be showing you my new trench coat, this week. I FINALLY finished it this Sunday, I cut it out in August (!!!) and then couldn’t get my act together…. sigh…..If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you’ll know, that I sewed up the Deer and Doe Luzerne coat twice this spring and have been living in the blush colour one, all year… which is why it is now looking very tired and is starting to fall apart…

DE: Kommen wir zum Schnitt! Den Londres Trench Coat habe ich in Größe 40 genäht ohne irgendwelche Anpassungen zu machen, was ich wirklich super finde! Ich habe diese wunderbare Garberdine von Pretty Mercerie am Sommeranfang gekauft, der Stoff fühlt sich unheimlich edel an und lässt sich sehr gut verarbeiten. Nachdem ich alle Teile ausgeschnitten hatte, habe ich eine sehr dünnen Vliseline auf alle Stücke gebügelt. Damit wollte ich dem Stoff noch etwas Stand geben und dafür sorgen, dass der Stoff weiterhin großteils knitterfrei bleibt. Da ich wollte, dass der Trench meine neue Übergangsjacke werden sollte, habe ich *DRUMROLL PLEASE* aus dem Tedi 2 Fleecedecken gekauft (für jeweils 2 €) und habe damit die Vorderteile, die Rückenteile und die Ärmel gefüttert. HAHHAHAHAHAH

EN: Let’s get down to business! I sewed up the Londres Trench Coat in a size 40 without any alterations, which is why it gets major brownie points from me! The pattern is by a French Label called Orageuse, which is very on trend and I really love their aesthetic. I used this wonderful Gabardine from Pretty Mercerie, which feels really rich and was a dream to work with. After I cut out all the pattern pieces I fused a very thin interfacing to all the pieces, and since I wanted to wear the coat until the first snow sets in decided to interline the trench with *DRUMROLL PLEASE* a fleece blanket…. HAHAHAHAHH

DE: Um dass zu machen, habe ich einfach die ausgeschnittenen Gaberdineteile auf die Fleecedecken gelegt und dann ausgeschnitten, auch habe ich alles mit einer Nahtzugabe von 0.5 cm an die Gaberdine gesteppt. Das war zwar aufwendig, aber dafür ist mein Mantel jetzt schön warm und ich glücklich! Ich habe den Ärmel noch eine Blende gegönnt an die ich dann noch vintage Glassknöpfe genäht habe um dem Mantel noch ein wenig Pfiff zu geben. Ich habe auch Knöpfe an den Schulterkappen und am Rücken, wo ich auch noch eine Gürtelschlaufe befestigt hatte angenäht. Ich wollte eigentlich die Fotos unter dem Kirschbaum in unserem Garten machen, wenn alle roten Blätter am Boden liegen, aber mein Lebensgefährte hatte schon alle Blätter eingesammelt… seufz…. Das Kleid ist übrigens ein altes Mccalls 6886, was ich immer sehr gerne trage, ich glaube ich muss mal wieder ein neues davon nähen!

EN: I bought two blankets at a One Euro Shop and placed the pattern pieces of the front, back and the sleeves on it and cut it out. I then basted the fleece pieces to the Gaberdine using a 0,5cm seam allowance. It took forever, but I am really glad, that I took the time, because this coat is warm! I gave the sleeves a placket and sewed on some vintage glass button, because I felt it would give the whole coat a little more oomph! I also added the buttons to the back belt loop, that I also added and the plackets on the shoulders. I wanted to take pictures of me standing under our cherry tree with the beautiful red leaves lying on the ground…. but the Mister decided to rake them all up, earlier that day…. sigh…. Also I am wearing my trust McCall’s 6886 dress I made a year ago and reminds me, that I really need to make another one for the colder season.

DE: Es gibt jedoch ein paar Sachen die ich am Schnitt bemängeln muss, die Anleitungen sind…nicht so toll. Viele Schritte werden einfach weggelassen, und die Anleitung für die Taschen sind gar nicht gut. Ich habe mir dazu ein Video auf YouTube angeschaut um noch irgendwie fertig zu werden. Ich habe dann irgendwann frei Schnautze genäht, was recht gut funktioniert hat, da ich schon genug Jacken und Mäntel genäht habe, jedoch denke ich, dass jemand, der sich zum ersten Mal an sowas traut, etwas zu kämpfen haben wird. Auch wünsche ich mir, dass ich den Ärmel in 2 Teile abgeändert hätte, dass tät mit Sicherheit edler aussehen, aber sowas ist wahrscheinlich nur Geschmackssache.

EN: As much as I love how this coat turned out, there are a few things we need to talk about. I found the instructions to be a bit….unhelpful. Especially the instructions to sew in the welt pocket, something I have never done before. I ended up using a youtube video instead, because I just wanted to finish the jacket and not burst into tears. I sewed the rest of the coat without using the instructions, which turned out just fine, I’ve sewn a number of jackets and coats before, so I had enough experience to put it together, halfway decently. I do however think, if this is your first coat project, you might have some issues with it. =( I also wish, that the sleeve pattern piece consisted out of 2 pieces, as that just looks so much more professional, but that is just my opinion.

DE: Ich bin sehr stolz auf diesen Mantel, und so glücklich, dass ich für den Herbst eine schicke und warme Übergangsjacke habe. Das bedeutet natürlich, dass ich mich jetzt an meinem Wintermantel machen muss… YIKES!!! Das wird mein erster richtiger Winter in 2 Jahren!!! Hab ihr vor Wintermäntel zu nähen? Welche Muster wollt ihr dazu verwenden? Ich würde mich freuen, von euch zu hören!

EN: I am quite proud of this coat and I am sure, that I will be living in it through the cooler months… which of course means I now have to get my winter coat sorted out before the first snow falls… YIKES!!! Patiently waiting for spring – Holly blouse, Tulip skirt and Luzerne coat

EN:I think it’s safe to say, that we are all waiting for spring to finally arrive and to start wearing clothes with colors!

When Sewoverit released their Tulip Skirt last year, I was on it like white on rice, I printed it off, chose the fabric and then promptly forgot to make it up. THE HORROR!! I still had a meter of blush twill left over from my first Luzerne coat and thought it would make a great Spring wardrobe staple. I WAS RIGHT!

I think it took me exactly 2 hours to cut and sew this skirt, which also included hand sewing the hem, for a nicer finish. I cut a straight size 12 and added 1.5 inches for length. So far, I’ve always had really great experiences with Sewoverit. All the notches matched up and the instructions are clear and easy to understand. I didn’t have enough fabric to sew the waistband in one, so there is a seam in the middle, at first this really annoyed me, but I have since decided it’s a cool design feature. SORTED!! I used an invisible zipper that went in without a hitch ( is it me, or do these kinds of zips go in perfectly the first time or you have to unpick it 30 times? yes, no??? Let me know!!)

DE: Ich weiss nicht wie es euch geht, aber meiner Meinung nach, kann nun endlich der Frühling kommen!

Als Sewoverit ihr letztes Jahr ihren Tulip Skirt veröffentlicht hatten, war ich ganz hin und weg, ich habe den Schnitt sofort ausgedruckt, einen Stoff aus meinem Lager gewählt nur um anschlissend meinen ganzen Plan zu vergessen. UPS!! Ich hatte noch einen Meter von meinem rosa Twill übrig, ein Reststück von meinen ersten Luzerne–Mantel und dachte es wuerde sich recht gut dazu eignen, meinen Kleiderschrank Fruehlings tauglich zu machen.

Ich glaube, es dauerte genau 2 Stunden den Rock auszuschneiden und anschliessend zu nähen, den Saum nähte ich mit der Hand, da ich finde, dass der Rock so etwas schöner aussieht. Ich habe die Größe 12 gewählt und 1,5 Zoll Länge hinzugefügt, da der Rock mir wohl zu kurz geworden wäre. Bisher hatte ich immer gute Erfahrungen mit Sewoverit, die Anweisungen sind klar und leicht verständlich und ich denke der Schnitt wäre auch für Anfänger sehr einfach zu bewähltigen. Ich hatte nicht genug Stoff um den Bund aus einem Stück zu nähen, weshalb ich nun genau in der Mitte einen Saum habe. Zuerst ärgerte mich das ungemein darüber, mittlerweile habe ich mich damit abgefunden und finde, es könnte glatt zum Design dazu gehören. (Ich glaube das rede ich mir immer noch ein…) Ich habe einen verdeckten Reißverschluss verwendet, der gleich beim ersten Mal problemlos eingenäht werden konnte (ist das nur bei mir so, dass bei dieser Art von Reißverschlüssen das einnähen entweder beim ersten Mal perfekt funktioniert oder man musst es 30mal aufzutrennen? Ja, Nein??? Lasst es mich wissen!!)

EN: So the Holly Blouse! This is the first time I’ve ever used a Style Arc pattern, I’ve been admiring their vast range of ready to wear patterns, that are all so on trend and finally pulled the trigger and I ordered a pattern off Amazon, so I’d have it by the next day, which I think is just brilliant! My love for bow blouses is well documented on my IG account, but I decided to branch out and try a new pattern.

I chose a very nice white silk crepe and cut out all the pieces with a rotary cutter, which worked out really well. I cut out a size 10 and didn’t change a single thing. The construction is quite simple if you’ve sewn a few blouses before, the instructions are limited, but they do give you a few pointers which is helpful. The other thing that you might want to take into consideration, is that the seam allowance is only 1 cm, I personally thought that was more than enough to make French seams with it, because PRETTY INSIDES!!

I used a very light weight interfacing for the cuffs and the facings and sewed with Rayon thread from Gütermann. I read somewhere that cotton thread can be a bit to heavy for silk fabric and might make the seams look a bit puckered. I actually bought a whole bunch of this stuff at the last Hobbycraft sale where all the Gütermann thread was going for half the price!!!!

DE: Zu der Bluse, ich habe bisher noch nie ein Muster von Style Arc verwendet, habe aber schon sehr lange ihre Vielzahl von modernen Schnitte bewundert und als ich dann mit dem Rock fertig war, dachte ich, “Jetzt brauchst du dazu auch eine neue Bluse!” Bisher habe ich immer den Blusen Schnitt von Sewoverit verwendet (mit Sicherheit 7 Mal, Bilder dazu findet ihr auf meine IG account) aber ich dachte, ich probier mal etwas neues aus. Style Arc Papierschnitte kann man übrigens über Amazon bestellen, was sehr praktisch ist, vorallem, wenn sie am nächsten Tag im Briefkasten sind! YAS!!!!

Der Blusen Schnitt heist Holly, ich habe weisse Seide verwendet und alles mit meinem Rotary Cutter (was ist hierfür bitte das richtige Deutsche Wort?? Laut Leo ist das Rollfräse…) ausgeschnitten, was deutlich schmerzfreier war, als alles mit meiner Schere aus zuschneiden! Ich habe die Groesse 10 ausgeschnitten und absolut nichts am Schnitt verändert. Genäht habe ich alles mit einem Rayon Faden von Gütermann, da ich einmal gelesen habe, dass Baumwollfaden zu schwer fuer Seide sei und man dann hässliche Kräuselungen bei der Naht bekommt, dies wollte ich auf jeden Fall verhindern. Das hat übrigens echt super funktioniert und die Bluse war in wenigen Stunden fertig gestellt.

EN: As no spring outfit is complete without a proper coat, in the UK, I made another Deer and Doe Luzerne trench coat. For this version I used a cotton canvas from Barry’s in Birmingham, as the fabric was a bit see through, I opted to interline it was an interfacing meant for wool coats. The interlining made the fabric drape really nicely and it also made it opaque, WIN-WIN. I cut a straight size 40 and lengthened the skirt by 2 inch, I also used some vintage glass buttons from my stash that kind of blend into my coat, which isn’t a bad thing per say…

I made bias binding out of left over Liberty I had in my stash, however.. IT DOESN’T GO WITH MY COAT AT ALL… AT ALL!!!! WHAT WAS I THINKING?? Anyway, I’ve decided nobody but I will see it, so there’s that. Construction wise this took a lot less time to make up the second time round. My bound button holes look sooooo much neater, I finished watching Emerald City on catch-up TV and had a brand new coat. =D

I love it so very much, and must now sewing many new outfit that go with it, so I can wear it out! #nevernotsewing

So this is my way of reigning in Spring, I want all the pastel colors and the fun outfits.

DE: Da im Vereinigten Königreich, kein Frühlingsoutfit ohne einen richtigen Mantel komplett ist, habe ich einen weiteren Deer and Doe Luzerne Trenchcoat genäht. Für diese Version, habe ich einen Baumwoll–Canvas von Barry’s in Birmingham verwendet, da der Stoff ein bisschen durchsichtig war, entschied ich mich für eine Vlieseline die eigentlich für Wollmäntel gedacht ist. Die Einlage hat den Stoff wirklich schön drapieren lassen und machte es auch weniger durchsichtig, WIN-WIN. Ich habe wieder die Grösse 40 genäht, den Rock um 2 Zoll verlängert und vintage Glass Knöpfe aus meinem Lager verwendet.

Ich habe Schrägband aus Liberty Resten, die ich in meinem Lager hatte, gefertigt… NUR, PASST ES ÜBERHAUPT NICHT ZU MEINEM MANTEL… ÜBERHAUPT NICHT!!! WAS HABE ICH MIR NUR DABEI GEDACHT?? Jedenfalls habe ich mich entschlossen, dass niemand, ausser mir das sehen wird, also basta!

Was die Konstruktion des Mantels angeht, dauerte es diesmal deutlich viel weniger Zeit alles zu nähen. Meine Knopflöcher sehen so viel ordentlicher aus, ich habe die letzten paar Folgen Emerald City im Catch-Up TV geschaut und hatte plötzlich einen neuen Trench!

Ich liebe meinen neuen Mantel so sehr und nun muss ich lauter Outfits passend dazu nähen, damit ich ihn auch regelmässig tragen kann! #nevernotsewing

My Deer and Doe Luzerne Trench Coat

EN: A few weeks ago I was walking around the top floor of the Bullring in Birmingham, when I came across the most amazing blush lace trench coat by Burberry, needless to say it was way out of my budget, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was in dire need of a new trench coat, my old one is 8 years old and way too small… so I started looking at different patterns from Burda to McCall’s to Vogue to the Robson Coat, but none of them really appealed to me. I think one of the reasons was, that thy all looked a bit too classic (and some looked a bit dated, to be honest…) Then Deer and Doe and wonderfully chic French sewing label released their new spring collection, and would you believe it, they had a cute, modern trench coat that ticked all the boxes for me. It had a fuller skirt, bound button holes and was finished with bias binding. You can guess how long it took me to press order!

DE: Vor einigen Wochen habe ich einem Kaufhaus in Birmingham den allerschoensten Rosa farbenen Spitzen Trench Coat von Burberry entdeckt. Es war Liebe auf den ersten Blick, aber mein Geldbeutel machte mir da ganz klar einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Ich habe noch Tage spaeter an diesen Trench gedacht und beschlossen mir selber einen zu naehen, mein alter Trench war schon fast 8 Jahre alt und mir viel zu eng. Es begann die Suche nach dem passenden Schnitt, ich schaute mir Muster von Burda, McCalls und Vogue and geliebaeugelte den Robson Coat, aber DER RICHTIGE war irgendwie nicht dabei. Ich vermute, viele der Schnitte waren mir ein wenig zu klassisch und zum Teil auch etwas altbacken. =/ ABER DANN! Deer und Doe, dieses fantastisch, schicke Franzoesische Schnittmusterlabel bracht 3 neue Muster, Anfang letzter Woche auf den Markt und deren Trench Coat der Luzerne, war genau dass, was ich gesucht hatte. Mir gefiel wie modern der Schnitt war, dass der Rock etwas weiter war und dass alle Naehte mit Querband versaeubert wurde. GENIAL!

I ordered 4 meters of peachy-blushy twill off eBay, unfortunately it’s currently sold out, but they have some really nice alternative colors, so take a look! The fabric was only 1.10m wide and I was sweating bullets because I wasn’t sure if it would be enough. I cut a straight size 40 and managed to get all the pieces out of the 4 meter, PHEW!!!(I did lengthen the skirt by 2 inches, because I wanted the trench to be a bit longer!) For the bias binding I looked through my stash of liberty pieces and found a vintage looking yellow piece which was about 45 cm long. I cut 2.5 inch strips on the bias and then sewed all the pieces into one long strip. I then folded the strip in half and pressed it, I usually do this, when I make binding for my quilts and it always turns out great, so NO REGRETS!!! I think the hardest part of making this coat is really cutting everything out and preparing the fabric and ironing it.

DE: Ich bestellte 4 Meter von einem Rosa-Pfirsich Twill ueber eBay, die Farbe ist leider ausverkauft, aber der Haendler hat noch viele schoene andere Farben, also tobt euch aus! Der Stoff war jedoch nur 1.10m breit, und ich hatte etwas Panik, dass ich nicht genug Stoff hatte um alle Teile ausschneiden zu koennen, aber Entwarnung, es ging sich aus! Ich habe Groesse 40 ohne irgendwelche Anpassungen ausgeschnitten. Fuer das Querband habe ich mein Lager durchkaemmt und einen Liberty Stoff in Gelb Toenen gefunden den ich dann in 2.5inch Streifen geschnitten habe und dann in Querband verarbeitet habe. Diese Methode verwende ich fuer meine Quilts und bisher ist auch nie etwas schief gegangen. Ich muss zugeben, das anstrengendste an diesem Muster ist wahrscheinlich das Ausschneiden und das Produzieren von Querband!

EN: To the instructions, if you are looking for some serious handholding while making this, you will be disappointed. The instructions have illustrations, but are brief and to the point. I recommend looking at YouTube videos if you are unsure on how to attach the binding or how to make the bound button holes. I think Deer and Doe try to cater to seamstresses, that have a little bit more experience, which isn’t a bad thing at all, however if I were a beginner, I might need some help.

DE: Was die Anleitung angeht, solltest du darauf hoffen, dass man dir die Hand haelt und dir alles erklaert, wirst du enttaeuscht sein. Deer and Doe gehen davon aus, dass ihre Kunden schon etwas Erfahrung haben, es gibt zwar Bilder fuer alle Schritte, aber die Erlaeuterungen dazu sind meistens kurz gehalten. Solltest du also nicht genau wissen, wie du mit dem Querband hantieren sollst oder nicht genau verstehst, was du mit den Knopfloechern machen sollst, empfehle ich dir YouTube!!

EN: Putting the coat together was really straight forward, I’ve sewn a few things from Deer and Doe before and they always come together beautifully, I love the very chic finish, Hong Kong binding really is something special, isn’t it? I just realized that I haven’t made any effort to pretty up my seams since I’ve gotton my overlocker, I used to french seam everything =/

I used some pretty vintage buttons from my button stash, they are from the 1960’s and were made in the Czech Republic! LIKE A BOSS!I love my new trench coat sooooooooooo much!!

PS: The dress I’m wearing is my second Vintage Shirtdress by Sewoverit, it’s also my favorite.

DE: Was das tatsaechliche naehen des Trench Coats angeht, kam alles erstaunlich schnell zusammen, ich hatte schon einmal einen Schnitt von Deer und Doe probiert und mir gefielt, dass alle Markierungen gepasst haben und das Endprodukt immer sehr schick und sauber ausfiel. Das alle Naehte mit Querband versaeubert wurden fand ich echt super, das ist so ein toller Eyecatcher, wenn man den Mantel aufmacht!

Ich habe vintage Knoepfe aus meinem Lager verwendet, die stammen aus den 1960s aus der Tschechischen Republik, ich finde die passen hervorragend zum Mantel! Ich liebe meinen neuen Trench und bis so froh, dass ich mich an diesen Schnitt getraut habe!

PS: Das Kleid ist uebrigens mein zweites Vintage Shirtdress von Sewoverit, es ist auch mein Lieblingskleid.
