DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben!! Es scheint als ob der Frühling ganz langsam bei uns eintrifft (YIPPIE!!) Was natürlich bedeutet, dass wir unsere dunklen Wintersachen für farbenfrohe Frühlingssachen austauschen können! PUH!!! Ich freue mich riesig, denn das war wohl der längste Winter in der Geschichte des Winters (das werde ich wohl nächste Jahr auch sagen…) Bevor ich mir Gedanken mache, was ich eigentlich alles für die wärmeren Temperaturen nähen möchte, dacht ich, ich schreibe mal eine Zusammenfassung über alles was ich im ersten Quartal von 2018 genäht habe!
EN: Good Morning everyone! It seems as if spring is finally waking up from her deep sleep and it’s time to store away all the dark winter clothes and break out all the colorful spring garments!!! YIPPIE!!!! I’m so glad the dark gloomy weather is nearly over, this must have been the longest winter ever (I’m pretty sure I will be saying that again next year…) But before I start making plans for all the things I’d like to make in the warmer months, I thought I write a summary of all the things I made in the first quarter of 2018, so without further ado:
DE: Ich habe von Januar bis März ganze 25 fertige Kleidungsstücke zusammen gebracht!! Das ist selbst für mich ein Rekord, wobei ich ehrlicherweise sagen muss, dass es vor allem daran liegt, dass ich mir 5 Nikko Tops von True Bias genäht habe. Ich habe meine Overlock wieder zum Laufen gebracht, was das nähen mit Jersey natürlich deutlich vereinfacht und das Nikko Top lässt sich innerhalb einer Stunde ausschneiden und fertig zusammen nähen, weshalb ich dann mehrere hintereinander genäht habe. SO MAG ICH DAS! Auch habe ich zwei Mal das Ogden Cami Top mit den Lexi Chic Boxers genäht um mir frühlinghafte Pyjamas-Sets zu nähen, das hat auch jeweils eine Stunde gebraucht.
EN: I sewed 25 garments from January until March which is a record, even for me. That being said, I did sew 5 Nikko Tops by True Bias. I finally managed to tame my very temperamental serger, which has made sewing with jersey SO MUCH EASIER! The Nikko top takes about an hour to cut out and sew which is why I batch sewed a bunch of them, they also are great layering pieces and I really can only recommend the pattern. I also sewed up two sets of Summer Pjs consisting of an Ogden Cami by True Bias and the Lexi Chic Boxers, these Pjs also took about an hour per item, which was very satisfying.
DE: Ich hatte in meinem Nähplan für 2018 angekündigt, dass ich vor allem viele Jacken und Mäntel nähen wollte und dass habe ich sogar geschafft! Ich bin sehr stolz auf mein rotes Cape, mein Wintermantel den ich mittlerweile sehr gerne trage und meinen Kelly Anorak ohne den ich gar nicht mehr leben möchte! Auch habe ich es geschaffteinen pinken Suki Kimono (mit Mini Ananas 🍍) und einen weiteren Luzerne Trenchcoat von Deer and Doe zu nähen! Der Winter ist zwar fast vorbei, aber ich würde unheimlich gerne noch den Rumana Coat von By Hand London nähen (Stoff und Schnitt liegen schon bereit!) und einen etwas peppigen Sapporo Mantel von Papercut Patterns, für den Frühling nähen. Mal gucken.
EN: I had mentioned in my sewing plan for 2018, that I was planning on sewing a number of jackets and coats and I really stuck to that pledge. I adore my cape, can’t live without my Kelly Anorak and have really grown to love my winter coat. I also managed to finish sewing up a pink Suki Kimono (with tiny pineapples 🍍)and another Luzerne Trench by Deer and Doe, keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming blogpost! I know that winter is nearly over, but I would still love to sew up the Rumana Coat by By Hand London and make a peppy Sapporo Coat by Papercut Pattern… We shall see…
DE: Ich habe zwei Blusen für die Arbeit genäht und natürlich auch einige Kleider (4), mein Favorit bleibt jedoch das Charlotte Dress von Sew Over It! (Ich habe übrigens schon das Lea Kleid von Lisa Comfort herunter geladen und werde es in weißen Krepp nähen!!) Ich bin ziemlich begeistert von der Strickjacken Kollektion von Lisa Comfort und ihre neue Stofflinie hat mich wirklich von den Socken gehauen (ICH WILL SIE ALLE!!!)… was mich nun zu meinem Stoffverbraucht bringt….
EN: I also sewed 2 blouses for the office and sewed 4 dresses, my favorite continues to be the Charlotte Dress by Sew Over It (BTW, I’ve already downloaded the new Lea dress and plan to make it up in white crepe!!) I’m also really excited about Lisa’s new range of cardigans and don’t get me started on her new fabric line (I WANT THEM ALL!!) which brings me to my fabric statistics….
DE: Jaja…. Ich hatte große Pläne und Ziele… und alles zerstört und verbrannt in einem Graben!!! In den ersten drei Monaten von 2018 habe ich es geschafft 53,2 Meter Stoff aus meinem Lager zu vernähen, was sich eigentlich wirklich sehen lassen kann. ABER, ich habe ganze 59,8 Meter Stoff gekauft, was mich, nachdem ich meine Excel Tabelle ausgewertet habe, ziemlich zerknirscht. Ich habe mir übrigens auch noch dazugeschrieben, was ich eigentlich für all diesen Stoff an Geld ausgegeben habe… und da wurde mir einfach nur noch schlecht…Das einzig Gute an der Sache ist, das ich jetzt eine ordentlich Auswertung habe und ich einsehe, dass ich so nicht weiter machen kann. Ich möchte im nächsten Quartal versuchen mehr Stoff abzubauen und deutlich (!!!) weniger Stoff zu kaufen.
EN: Soooo…. Remember all the great plans and Goals I had?… they are all lying ruined and burned in a ditch! I shall start with telling you, that I managed to sew up 53,2 meters of fabric from my stash in the first quarter of 2018, which is actually not bad at all… HOWEVER…. I bought 59,8 meters of fabric… YIKES!!! After looking at my spread sheet and calculating what I spent on that amount of fabric, I felt rather ill. I’m glad that I chose to start keeping a record of the amount of fabric that I am buying and what I am spending on it, to hold myself more accountable. But the truth of the matter is, that I CANNOT go on like this and really Need to do A LOT better in the next quarter…
DE: Was habe ich im ersten Quartal gelernt? Jersey ist dein Freund!!! Jetzt wo meine sehr zickige Overlock wieder wie ein artiges Kätzchen schnurrt, werde ich wohl öfters mit diesem Stoff arbeiten. Ich habe das neue Buch von Tilly “Stretch!” gekauft und möchte einige von den Schnitten ausprobieren.. Ich bin was das nähen angeht, ein ziemlicher Egoist und das ist eigentlich ganz gut so, aber im Zusammenhang mit dem “Selfless Sewing Month”von Sew Over It, habe ich beschlossen mal etwas für die Leute in meinem Leben zu nähen, die schon ziemlich lange darauf warten, dass ich ihnen etwas nähen…IHR WISST WER IHR SEID!!! Wie war denn euer ersten Näh-Quartal?

Es ist auf jeden Fall wärmer als Deutschland, aber nicht ganz so warm, wie es beim letzten Mal war, als wir hier waren. EN: Good morning everyone and greetings from ARIZONA! We’ve decided to escape the cold and have been spending the past 2 weeks in America. It’s most defiantly much warmer that the weather we fled from in Germany, but it’s also quite a bit cooler than the last time we were here. We had planned to spend a few days in the desert und since I was freezing my butt off the last time we were here and was cursing myself for not owning a proper utility jacket, I decided to sew a very last minute one (8 days before we left!!). So without further ado, let me tell you all about my 
DE: Ich habe einige Schnitte von Heather Lou in meinem Lager, habe mich aber bisher irgendwie nie ran getraut…Was mir sehr gut an ihren Schnitten gefällt, ist das sie etwas anspruchsvoller sind und recht “Fashion Forward” sind. Nach meinem Urlaub will ich mich dann endlich an die Ginger Jeans trauen, ich habe außerdem noch schon den Charlie Caftan ausgeschnitten und will für den Sommer auch ein Kalle Dress aus Leinen nähen. Aber kommen wir zurück zum Kelly Anorak, ich hatte den Schnitt gekauft als er vor 2 Jahren (!!!!) auf dem Markt kam, habe alle Materialien für die ungefütterte Jacke gekauft (roter Twill, Schrägband, Druckknöpfe etc) und habe dann auf die ersten Rezensionen gewartet…. Die fielen in genau 2 Kategorien aus… ALLES WAR SUPER…. Oder … ALLES WAR SCHRECKLICH! Mir gefiel auch nicht, dass die Jacke ungefüttert war und als es dann ein Tutorial zum füttern herauskam wurde mir das alles einfach zu kompliziert, weshalb ich dann alles in eine Ecke geworfen habe… wo es dann 2 Jahre verstaubt ist….
EN: I own quite a number of Heather Lou’s patterns, but have yet to actually sew up any of them, I’m honestly not quite sure what my deal is…. I really like the fact that the patterns are very fashion forward and cater to the more advanced seamstress, which is why I will have to get my act together and make up a Charlie Caftan and a Kalle Dress when I get back home. As for Kelly, I bought the pattern when it came out about 2 years ago (!!!) and then swiftly sourced all the materials, red twill, bias binding, snaps etc and then I waited for the first reviews of the Jacket which fell into two categories: EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT or EVERYTHING WAS TERRIBLE. I was kind or irritated, that the jacket was unlined and after reading the interlined Jacket hack… I was left very confused and decided to scrap my plans and toss Kelly and all the materials into a corner, where it spend all this time collecting dust.
DE: Kommen wir diesjährigen Februar, mir war klar, dass ich einen Anorak brauchen würde also habe ich die Kelly heraus gekramt, mittlerweile gab es auch ein zusätzliches

DE: Anschließend habe ich alle Futterteile nach der Anleitung zusammen genäht und fertig war die Futterjacke! Die Konstruktion für die eigentlich Jacke war ziemlich einfach, bei den Taschen hab ich die Fotoanleitung von Heather Lou verwendet. Closet Case Files, hat eine überarbeitet Fotoanleitung für alle wichtigen und komplizierten Schritte für die gefütterte und ungefüttertet Kelly letztes Jahr online gestellt , was das Nachvollziehen vieler komplizierteren Schritte deutlich einfacher macht. Ich habe mich beim annähen der Kapuze unheimlich schwer getan, und habe alles bestimmt 10 Mal aufgetrennt und wieder zusammengenäht, auch habe ich bei der Konstruktion der Überdeckung für den Reißverschluss schwer getan und habe ständige die gleichen Teil falsch zusammen genäht… das kann aber auch daran gelegen haben, dass ich dann schon recht müde war.
En: Putting the shell together was quite simple, Closet Case Files had uploaded a new improved Photo Sew Along on their site, depicting all the difficult steps for both the lined and unlined Kelly Anorak. I used the tutorials to put the pockets together, as I was struggling with the written instructions. I also struggled attaching the hood to the jacket, and must have unpicked the pieces about 10 times. I also kept sewing the plackets together incorrectly, which probably had more to do with the fact that I was beginning to get really tired and kept confusing the pieces.
DE: Für die Knöpfe habe ich goldene Anorak Knöpfe von Prym verwendet, ich habe dazu meine heißgeliebte

DE: Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit meinen neuem Anorak, er ist deutlich besser geworden, als ich gedacht habe und ich bin froh dass ich mir die Mühe gemacht habe die Jacke mit der Fleecedecke zu füttern, damit habe ich bisher auch keine Minute gefroren! Solltest du dich also bisher auch vor der Kelly gedrückt haben, kann ich nur sagen: TRAUE DICH!! Die Fotoanleitung ist wirklich Goldwert, wenn du mit der Papieranleitung nicht weiterkommst. Ich denke, ich werde im Herbst noch einmal den roten Twill heraus kramen und noch eine Kelly nähen, schließlich brauche ich mehr als einen Anorak in meinem Kleiderschrank! EN: I’m really pleased with how my Kelly Anorak turned out and I am so glad that I took the time to properly line it (with that fleece blanket LOL!). So far I haven’t been cold while wearing it and it really is a garment I have been missing in my closet. For all of you contemplating making this jacket: DO IT! The sew along will hold your hand through all the tricky bits and trust me having a nice utility jacket is something you’ll wish you’d gotten eons ago. I’m pretty sure, that I will be digging out that red twill in autumn and will be making up another Kelly, because I defiantly need more than one Anorak in my closet!
