DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! ES LIEGT SCHNEE!!!!!! Ich bin fassungslos und will mir nicht eingestehen, dass der Winter nun da ist. Das einzig Gute daran ist… dass ich meine warmen Klamotten endlich anziehen kann und mich nicht schlecht fühlen muss, weil ich noch 5 Mäntel nähen möchte – denn Frau brauch schließlich eine Mantel- Auswahl!

EN: Good Morning Everyone! IT’S SNOWING!!!! You guys, I’m shocked that winter is here. The only good thing, regarding this change in weather is the fact that I finally get to wear all my cold weather clothes! Also, I don’t have to feel bad, that I am currently planning 5 more Coats – I mean a girl’s gotta have outerwear choices, right?

DE: Was mich natürlich zu meinem heutigen Outfit führt: Mein Olivia Kleid von Named und mein Silvia Coatigan von Schnittchen. Ganz nach meinen Vorstellungen aus „ERWACHSENEN STOFFEN“ in Schwarz, Grau und Weiß! Den Coatigan habe ich für einen Gästeblogpost für Schnittchen genäht, Details dazu findet ihr hier (AUF DEUTSCH!!).

EN: Which brings me to today’s outfit: The Named Olivia Wrapdress and the Silvia Coatigan for Schnittchen. Both projects definitely fall under my more grownup fabric choices, black and grey and white that go with EVERYTHING! I actually made this coat for my guest blogpost for Schnittchen, that you can find here (IT’S IN GERMAN!).

DE: Den Schnitt für Olivia habe ich seit fast 3 Jahren in meinem Lager… ausgedruckt als PDF (als ich noch PDFs zusammen geklebt habe!!). Nun ja, nachdem ich diese Version von Nina gesehen habe und ganz Feuer und Flamme war… dachte ich mir NÄH DIR EINE OLIVIA! Ich habe diesen Baumwolljersey von Like Sew Amazing verwendet, ich werde nicht lügen, die Schnitt benötigt eine horrende Menge an Stoff. Ich habe es gerade noch so geschafft das Kleid aus 2.5 Metern auszuschneiden. Genäht habe ich alles auf meiner Overlock.

EN: I’ve actually had the Olivia dress in my stash for the past 3 years… as a printed PDF….when I still taped up PDFs! Anyway, after seeing Nina’s version, I knew I need to board that train and sew my own OLIVIA, stat! I used this cotton Jersey from Like Sew Amazing and won’t lie when I mention the horrendous amount of fabric, you need for this project! YIKES!!!! I barely managed to squeeze out all the pieces using 2,5 meters of fabric. I sewed everything on my serger.

DE: An dieser Stelle möchte ich mich recht herzlich bei meiner Overlock entschuldigen, nachdem ich nur geschimpft hatte, ein neues Messer eigesetzt hatte, die Maschine geölt hatte, neuen Overlockfaden von Coats gekauft hatte und die Maschine trotzdem weiterhin nur einen Mist gemacht hat…. Hat man mir am Nähwochenende in Possenhofen (ja dazu schulde ich euch immer noch einen Blogpost!! SO SORRY!) geraten eine neue Nadel zu verwenden.. und siehe da, plötzlich nähte die Overlock genauso wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte. Die Maschine habe ich seit 2 Jahren und sie hat NOCH NIE EINE NEUE NADEL GESEHEN!!!!! Keine Ahnung weshalb ich dachte dass ich nicht nach jedem Projekt, wie ich es bei meiner Nähmaschine mache, die Nadel wechseln sollte…

EN: I do need to apologize to my serger at this point. After badmouthing her, changing her blade, changing the thread brand to coats, oiling her and still having terrible results…some of the ladies who also went to the sewing retreat in Possenhofen (Damn I still owe you a blogpost for that.. SO SORRY!) told me to change the needle. I am so embarrassed to admit this, but I have NEVER EVER CHANGED THE NEEDLE ON MY OVERLOCKER!!!!! I’ve had this machine for 2 years, no wonder the stitches were terrible!!!! Once I put in new needles the stitches were perfect… I nearly shed a tear….I have now vowed to change the needles after every project, as I do this with my sewing machine!

DE: Wie dem auch sei, meine Ovi und ich sind wieder Freunde, ich habe bei Amazon 30 Overlocknadeln bestellt und werde nun nach jedem Projekt die Nadeln austauschen. SACHEN GIBT’S!!! Zurück zur Olivia! Genäht habe ich sie in Größe 40, es ist etwas groß geworden und ich denke beim nächsten Mal nähe ich eine 38. Die Anleitung ist recht einfach gestaltet aber man kann sich da schon durchwurschteln.Ich habe den Beleg am Halsausschnitt nicht festgenäht, weil ich die daraus entstehende Naht nicht toll fand, da der Beleg aber gerne aus meinem Ausschnitt abhauen möchte, werde ich das wohl am Wochenende nachholen müssen.

EN: Now that my serger and I are besties again and I bought 30 Overlock needles from Amazon- we can get back to OLIVIA! I sewed her up in a size 40, next time I will use a size 38 as she’s a bit big. The instructions are a bit meager but you can still figure out what to do pretty easily. I didn’t stitch down the facing of the neckline, as I wanted to avoid the topstitching line and keep everything simple, but since the facing keeps trying to escape when worn, I’ll have to do this over the weekend.

DE: Was mir auch nicht ganz so viel Spaß gemacht hat, war das Gummiband an der Taillennaht festzunähen. GANZ GRAUSAM!!! Aber da mir das Endergebnis doch so gut gefallen hat, darf ich mich gar nicht beklagen. Ich bin ziemlich begeistert von dem Design und freue mich, das noch ein Jersey Kleid diesen Winter in meinen Schrank wandert….auch habe ich schon ein Auge auf das Pilvi Kleid von Named geworfen und glaube, dass ich das als nächstes nähen werde.In dem Sinne wünsche ich euch noch eine erfolgreiche Woche und schaut doch bei Creadienstag vorbei, wo ihr viele weiteren tolle Projekte finden werdet!

EN: The only thing I really didn’t like about this pattern, was attaching the elastic to the seam allowances of the waistline. That was truly a horrible task. I can’t complain though, the dress turned out soooo well! I love her! I’m so pleased I’ve added another jersey dress to my winter wardrobe and I have been eyeing the Pilvi Dress from Named and think she will be my next project, so keep your eyes peeled!
