DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Nachdem wir nun seit Wochen so ein tolles Wetter hatte, bin ich nun etwas froh, dass wir diese Woche ein paar kühlere Temperaturen haben und ich meine Frühlingsjacken, doch noch anziehen kann. Letztes Wochenende, hatte der Neffe meiner besseren Hälfte Taufe und ich habe mir super kurzfristig (Um 16 Uhr am Tag vorher) entschlossen doch noch etwas neues zu nähen… WARUM???

EN: Good morning, everyone! After weeks of amazing weather I am quite happy that the temperatures have cooled down and I am now able to wear my trench coats for a little bit. Last weekend, it was the Mister’s nephew’s christening and since I am very last –minute-dot-com I decided at 4PM on the day before the christening, to sew myself a new outfit….WHY???

DE: Genäht habe ich das Penny Dress von Sew Over It, ein Schnittmuster vom PDF Club, das letztes Jahr auf dem Markt kam. Ich hatte damals meine erste Version aus Viskose genäht und vergessen das Oberteil zu verlängern, auch kam ich nicht mit der Anleitung für den Beleg klar… was dazu führte das: das Oberteil zu Eng und zu kurz war, der Stoff schrecklich ausleierte und ich den Rock 2 mal kürzen musste… er ist an mindestens 3 Stellen unterschiedlich lang…. Oh man.. für daheim ist es schon ok, ich trag das kleide gerne an heißen Tagen….aber besonders schick fühle ich mich nicht unbedingt darin.

EN: I sewed up the Penny Dress by Sew Over it, which was a pattern that was released last year, with their PDF Club. When the pattern was released, I sewed up the dress in a viscose and had never ending problems as I forgot to lengthen the bodice, the fabric bagged out and Ii ruined the button band…The skirt kept growing and even after I redid the hem twice it is still 3 different lengths…. Which is why I relegated it to “house dress”, which I wear on hot days… at home… I’m not going to lie.. the dress is ok, but I don’t feel fabulous in it.

DE: Nun ja, al ich dann beschlossen hatte doch noch ein anderes Outfit für die Taufe zu nähen, war mir klar, dass es etwas sein musste, was besonders schnell zu nähen war. Ich kramte also meinen Penny Schnitt hervor und verlängerte das Vorder- und Rückenteil um 1 inch. Dann habe ich meine Lager durchforstet, denn das Kleid benötigt ganze 3 Meter Stoff und glücklicherweise hatte ich 3 Meter von dem Elderflowerstoff von Lisa Comfort. Das passte irgendwie wie die Faust aufs Auge, finde ich!

EN: When I decided to make up another outfit for the christening, I knew it needed to be a pattern, that sewed up really quickly. I dug up the pattern, and lengthend the front and bock bodice pieces by 1 inch. Then I went through my stash, as the pattern does call for 3 meters of fabric. Luckily, I had this Elderflower press Lawn from Lisa Comfort, and let’s be real that fits together like white on rice!

DE: Ich habe also alles ausgeschnitten und mich dann gleich dran gemacht. Ich denke fürs ausschneiden und nähen habe ich 2.5 Stunden gebraucht. Ich habe den Saum für die Kimonoärmel und den Rock per Hand genäht. Wir haben uns noch einmal den Bond Film “Spectre” auf Amazon Prime gegeben und am Ende des Films war alles fertig. Ich habe wieder vintage Knöpfe aus meinem Lager verwendet, die meiner Meinung nach wirklich gut mit dem Stoff passen. Der Stoff ist übrigens wünderbar zum verarbeiten, und kann schon mit dem Tana Lawn von Liberty mithalten, finde ich.

EN: I cut out everything and started sewing up the dress. I think that took me about 2.5 hours in whole, I did take the time to hand sew the hem of the kimono sleeves and the skirt by hand. We decided to rewatch the last Bond movie “Spectre” and by the end of the movie, I had a finished dress! I chose some vintage buttons from my stash, that go really well with the fabric. The fabric is pretty fabulous, if I may say o myself! It feel quite similar to the Tana Lawn that Liberty is famous for.

DE: Ich habe übrigens auch noch ein passendes Einstecktuch für meine bessere Hälfte 1 Stunde vor Abfahrt genäht, das ging super einfach und sah wirklich schick aus. =) Die Taufe war übrigens besonders schön, wir hatten sehr viel Glück mit dem Wetter und der Diakon hat alles kurz aber sehr persönlich gehalten, was alle Anwesenden wirklich berührt hat. EN: I actually made the Mister a matching pocket square 1 hour before we were due to leave, which turned out really nice! The christening was really lovely, the weather was great, as it was held outside and the deacon made the ceremony very personal and kept it short. I think everyone present was really touched. I’ve added a picture of the Mister and I below , standing in a field next to the chapel.
