ultimate shift dress

DE: Guten Morgen Ihr Lieben! Pünktlich zum „Ich packe meinen Koffer“ Motto beim heutigen MeMadeMittwoch, habe ich noch ein sehr leichte, luftiges Kleid genäht, in dem ich wohl bis zum Herbst leben werde. Ihr werdet vermutlich, wie ich, sehr unter der Hitze der letzten Woche gelitten haben. Ich habe letztes Wochenende versucht zwei sehr einfache Kleider zu nähen und war völlig überfordert, habe ständig dumme Fehler gemacht und habe dann beide Kleider in meine UFO Kiste verbannt. Die werde ich wieder herauskramen, wenn es nicht so heiß ist und ich wieder klar denken kann.

EN: Good morning, everyone! I hope you are well and those of you living in the Northern Hemisphere aren’t suffering as much under the scorching weather as we are in Germany, at the moment. I tried sewing some really simple dresses over the weekend and ruined both of them.. they have since been buried in my UFO box and might get another lease on life, once it cools down and I can think clearly again.

DE: Ich habe von Sew Over It das Ultimate Shift Dress genäht, eines der wenigen Schnitt von SOI, dass ich noch nicht genäht hatte. Warum weiß ich auch nicht so recht denn der Schnitt ist SUPER EINFACH und besteht nur aus 3 Teilen, wenn man die Ärmel weglässt. Das habe ich in dieser Version auch gemacht. Ich habe einen Batist Stoff verwendet, den ich in Birmingham vor 6 Wochen gekauft habe, für schlappe 5 GBP pro Meter… da habe ich gleich 3 Meter mitgenommen. Da der Stoff aber recht leicht und etwas durchsichtig ist, habe ich es mit weißem Batist gefüttert.

EN: I finally decided to make up the Ultimate Shift Dress by Sew Over It, one of the few patterns I haven’t made up, yet. I can’t even come up with a reason for why it took me so long to try out this pattern, it only has three pieces, if you leave off the sleeves and is SOOO EASY to make! I used a Broderie Anglaise fabric I got at the Birmingham Rag Market 6 weeks ago. The fabric was 5 GBP a meter, which is why I got 3 meters. However, the fabric is quite sheer which is why I chose to line the entire dress with a thin cotton lawn.

DE: Genäht habe ich es in Größe 12. Mit dem Halsausschnitt bin ich nicht ganz zufrieden, ich glaube da muss ich bei der nächsten Version mal was abändern. Da ich noch so viel von diesem Stoff übrig habe, möchte ich gerne eine Top Version daraus machen (ist im Schnitt auch mit enthalten) mal gucken, ich habe gerade so viele Sommer Schnitte herausgekramt, die ich gerne nähen möchte aber mir fehlt im Augenblick einfach die Zeit dafür… da ich eine Hochzeit plane und im Büro an Arbeit ertrinke… das übliche eben! HAHAHAH

EN: I sewed up a size 12 without any alterations. I am not quite happy with the neckline, I think I might need to adjust it a bit, when I make up the pattern again. Since I still have so much fabric left, I’ve decided to make up a top version of the Shift Dress (it actually also comes with the pattern). That being said, I’ve dug up so many lovely summer patterns, that I would love to sew up ut I am really lacking time at the moment… between planning a wedding and drowning in work at the office, it’s been a bit tough!
