DE: Meine Lieben, wie ist der Februar schon wieder rum? Zugegeben, es ist ein relativ kurzer Monat,  aber ich bin echt geschockt, das wir schon den März einläuten. Es war ein seht intensiver Monat, sowohl arbeitstechnisch als auch privat und ich bin froh, dass die nächsten Monaten hoffnungsvollerweise etwas entspannter ausfallen werden. Kommen wir zum eigentlichem: Meine Februar Lieblinge!

 

EN: Hello Everyone! How is February over already? I will admit that this was a very busy and exhausting month for me both professionally as well as personally and I am glad to see the rear end of it. I am however looking forward to the next few months being a lot less stressful and having more time to do things I enjoy. But let’s get down to business and let me tell you all about my February favorites:

 

DE: Ich habe im Februar wieder ziemlich viel genäht, was vor allem daran lag, dass ich ein ganzes Wochenende in Burghausen beim „Nähen auf der Burg“ war und dort 2 Blusen, eine Coulotte, einen Mantel und einen Pyjama genäht habe. Es wäre wahrscheinlich noch viel mehr geworden, aber pünktlich zum Kick-off am Freitag gab es eine Wetterumschwung (FRÜHLING IST DA!) und hatte dann bis am Samstagmittag mörderische Kopfschmerzen und musste immer mal wieder pausieren, weil ich mich teilweise  nicht mehr ausgekannt habe…(ich habe ständig Sachen falsch zusammen genäht….) Ich hatte zwar meine Kamera dabei habe aber total vergessen auch nur 1 Bild zu schießen… #SOSORRY nächstes Mal mach ich das besser. Was mir auf jeden Fall aufgefallen ist, ist dass ich mal wieder alles Mögliche nähe ohne mir Gedanken zu machen, wie ich alles kombinieren möchte… da muss ich mal im März ein paar Basics in Unifarben nähen. Insgesamt habe ich 5 Teile genäht und 15,8 Meter von Stoff verbraucht, mein Stofflager sieht leider immer noch nicht leerer aus…. Gestrickt habe ich auch im Februar! Ein zweites Paar Socken ist fertig und somit habe ich schon 1/3 von meiner Socken-Strick-Challenge erreicht HAHAHA Auch habe ich eine zweite Strickjacke begonnen, obwohl ich die vom letzten Monat immer noch nicht fertig gebracht habe.. warum 2 Ärmel stricken, wenn man 4 Stricken könnte… HEUL!!! Ich habe schon 2 weitere Strickjacken im Visier und habe Wolle für mindestens eine davon. Auch mein Wolllager ist nicht weniger geworden… ich habe ganz tolle, mit botanischen Mitteln,  Hand gefärbte Wolle gekauft. Die Färberin Ocean, macht Freitagabend oft einen Shop-Update bei Etsy und man kann auch anfragen ob sie in kleinen Kontingenten Wolle für einen färbt. Ich bin auf jeden Fall ein riesen Fan von ihr und werde, sobald ich die Wolle verstrickt habe, neue bei ihr bestellen.

 

EN: I managed to squeeze in quite a bit of sewing in February, most of which I did in one weekend, while I was at a sewing retreat in Burghausen. I managed to finish 2 blouses, a jacket, a pair of culottes and a pajama set. I could have probably done a few more things, if I hadn’t gotten a terrible head on Friday, that lasted all the way to Saturday after lunch. This was due to the terrific weather that suddenly got sprung on us (SPRING IS HERE!), I had to take lots of breaks, as I was getting seriously confused and was sewing things together incorrectly. I did notice that I was falling back into bad habits and have once again, sewing all the things and then realizing I didn’t have coordinating separates, that go along with them. I will have to rectify that in March and sew a few basics in solid colors, methinks. I also realized, that while I took my camera along to the sewing retreat, I didn’t take a single picture #SOSORRY I promise to do better in the future. In February I finished 5 garments and used 15,8 meters of fabric, not that you would notice any difference in my stash… I also got some knitting done this month and finished my second pair of socks! I have now completed 1/3 of my self-imposed sock- knitting-challenge HAHAHAHAH I also started another cardigan, and still haven’t finished the cardi I started last month, because why knit 2 sleeves, when you can knit 4… SOBBING!!! I’ve already picked out two other cardigan patterns, I’d like to knit after finishing the two I currently have on my needles, I have wool for one of them. Speaking of my wool stash, I did add to it this month and ordered some luscious, botanically, hand dyed wool from Ocean. She updates her Etsy Shop on a regular basis and will even take commissions to dye larger amounts (at least 5 skeins of yarn) if you’re into that. I will be looking into that once I use up the yarn I just got from her!

 

DE: Mein Podcast des Monats ist COLD. Mein Güte!!!! Der Podcast handelt von Susan Powell, ihrem psychotischem Mann, deren Kinder und ihrem Schwiegervater. Ich konnte mich noch ganz vage an den Fall erinnern, das geschah in einer Zeit in der ich sehr viel CNN geschaut hatte. Susan war in 2010 plötzlich verschwunden, ihr Mann behauptete an dem Abend ihres Verschwindens, um Mitternacht, im Januar, mit den gemeinsamen Kindern (2+4 Jahre) zum Campen gefahren zu sein… an diesem Abend war ein Blizzard(!!!!) . Ja meine Lieben, das Alibi war total lächerlich, was jedoch in den Wochen und Monaten darauf geschah ist schwer in Worte zu fassen. Der Podcast geht ziemlich in die tiefe, dem Journalisten war es gelungen 3.000 Stücke Bewiese zu begutachten, darunter die Tagebücher von Susan, ihrem Mann (und ihrem Schwiegervater !!!!!), gedrehte Videos, eine erschreckende Anzahl von Briefen, Emails und Nachrichten an Freunde, die Susan vor ihrem Verschwinden gesendet hatte, die ziemlich eindeutig ihren Mann verdächtigen, sollte ihr etwas passieren. Der Podcast war fesselnder als jeden Thriller den ich je gelesen habe und hat mich ziemlich erschüttert (ich sage nur DIESER SCHWIEGERVATER!!!!!!!!!!). HÖRT IHN EUCH AN!!

 

EN: My podcast of the month is COLD. Seriously. SERIOUSLY! SRSLY!!!!!! The podcast is about the Susan Powell, a mother of 2, who disappeared under alarmingly suspicious circumstances in 2010. I could vaguely remember the case, as this happened during a time, when I watched a lot of CNN. The journalist who put the podcast together was able to get access to 3.000 (!!!) pieces of evidence, including journals, video journals, Susan’s emails to colleagues and Facebook messages and manages to keep you on the edge of your seat right from the get go. Susan’s husband claims, he took their sons (2 and 4 at the time) camping at midnight, in January, in Utah, during a blizzard, on the night of her disappearance. Needless to say, that alibi was completely unbelievable and what happened in the following weeks and months will leave you completely aghast. SERIOUSLY HER FATHER IN LAW!!!! WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROTT!!! This podcast destroyed me, it’s well researched but really heart breaking. There were so many red flags and the fact that Susan has never been found will leave you feeling uneasy and quite frankly sad. GO AND LISTEN TO IT!

 

 

DE: Mein Lied des Monats ist „7 Rings“ von Ariana Grande. Man kann sie lieben oder hassen, aber Ariana hat in ihrem kurzen Leben so viel schreckliches erlebt und schafft es trotzdem weiterhin weiter zu machen und Lebensmut zu zeigen. Ich bewundere sie sehr dafür.

 

EN: My favorite Song in February was „7 Rings” by Ariana Grande. Love her or hate her, she’s experienced so much tragedy in her short life and I admire her resilience and continued love for life.

 

DE: Mein Buch des Monats ist, gar keins. Ich habe mich durch 3 Bücher gewurschtelt, alle waren doof. Ich hoffe, ich kann euch im nächsten Monat wieder was ordentliches empfehlen.

EN: I don’t have a book of the month. I read 3 book of which 2 were mediocre and third that falls under awful. I did finish all three of them and hope that I’ll be able to recommend another great book next month.

 

DE: Beim Netflixen, habe ich mich diesen Monat sehr schwer getan, ich habe einige Serien angefangen und relativ schnell aufgegeben, weil sie mir nicht getaugt haben. Dafür habe ich dann am Ende des Monat “Killing Eve” auf Amazon Prime entdeckt UND ES IST DIE BSTE SERIE, DIE ICH IN DEN LETZEN 12 MONATEN GEGUCKT HABE!!!! Ich finde es sogar besser als “The Punisher” und das war wirklich schwer zu toppen. Eve, gespielt von der herrvoragenen Sandra Oh (bekannt aus Greys Anatomy) arbeitet beim MI5 in London und ist total besessen von weiblichen Serienkillern, nur das sie in ihrem Job eigentlich nichts damit zu tun hat. Das ändert sich, als sie La Villanelle aka. Oksana (noch grosartiger gespielt von Jodie Comer) über dem Weg läuft, die tatsächlich ein Auftragskiller ist. La Villanelle und Eve beginnen ein Katz und Maus Spiel, jagen einander, und wissen selbst nicht so genau was sie eigentlich von einander wollen (FREUNDSCHAFT???).  Ich kann euch nur sagen, dass die Serie unheimlich spannend, sehr lustig und die Kostüme von La Vilanelle phantiastisch sind.

EN: I struggled a lot with finding a suitable Netflix TV show this month. I started a few and quit them all very quickly, truth be told I was having a serious “The Punisher” hangover and nothing could cure it – until I discovered “Killing Eve” on Amazon Prime. YOU GUYS, THIS IS THE BEST TV SHOW I’VE WATCHED IN 12 Months!!!!! It’s even bettern than “The Punisher” which in itself is quite a feat. Eve, played by the awesome Sandra Oh (Christina Yang in Grey’s Anatomy) is a MI5 agent who is obsessed with female assasins, which is a real shame, as her job doesn’t actually have anything to do with hitmen/hitwomen. That is until La Villanelle aka. Oksana (played by the equally awesome Jodie Comer) crosses her path and the two begin trying to hunt each other down, sabbotaging each other and start some sort of twisted friendship? HAHAHA The show is smart, thrilling at times VERY FUNNY and just absolutely awesome. I also really want to steal La Villanelle’s clothes, they are all awesome and I want her Parisian apartment! GO AND WATCH IT!

DE: Das war mein Februar! Zum Schluss wollte ich euch noch mitteilen, dass ich letztes Wochenende,mit der besseren Hälfte auf dem Weldner Hof in Landsberg am Lech war und  wir mit Lamas wandern waren. Das war eines der schönsten Erfahrungen, die ich in letzter Zeit gemacht habe. Lamas sind echt liebevolle, entspannte Wesen und ich kann euch so eine Wanderung wirklich ans Herz legen.  Bis zum nächsten Mal!

EN: That was my February! Before I sign off, I just wanted to mention, that the better half and I went to Landsberg am Lech and went Lama trecking at the Weldner Hof. It was one of the greatest experiences I had in quite a while. Lamas are such sweet, laidback animals and I really recommend this hike. See you next time!
