DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben, da eine weitere Hitzewelle auf uns zukommt, musste ich noch ein Sommerkleid nähen! HAHAHAH Nach meinem letzten Post, habe ich festgestellt, dass VikiSews einen epischen Sommerausverkauft veranstaltet hat, der wohl so gut gelaufen ist, dass ihr Server den Geist aufgegeben hat! DAS SPRICHT FÜR SICH!!!

EN: Good morning, everyone! Since we are currently experiencing ANOTHER HEATWAVE, I thought it was a smart idea to sew another summer dress! HAHAHAHAHA After my last post, I noticed that VikiSews had an epic summer sale on, that was sooo epic, that it broke the internet… or her server. SEWIST DOING WHAT THEY DO BEST, WHEN THEY ARE NOT SEWING!

DE: Ich habe auch zugegriffen und habe mir den Online Nähkurs für das Melina Kleid gekauft. Vorab folgendes, die Qualität der Videos sind hervorragend! Ich habe zwar kein Wort verstanden aber nur vom zuschauen sooooooooooo viel gelernt, dass ich in Zukunft immer machen werde.

EN: I treated myself to the Melina Online Class, the quality of the videos is AMAZING! While I didn’t understand a single word, I learned tons, just from watching what Viki was doing. In fact, I feel like I was an amateur before watching these videos and I now feel like I have upped my sewing game and will be using my new found skill on all my makes in the future!

DE: Genäht habe ich Melina in Größe 40 und habe wieder an den vorderen und hinteren Seiten jeweils 1cm dazu addiert, das hat wirklich gut geklappt. Alle Nahtzugaben werden mit Querband versäubert, der Saum wird nur umgeschlagen, ich habe ihn per Hand wieder festgenäht und dabei auf Netflix Safe angeschaut. (war beides sehr gut LOL!)

EN: I sewed up Melina in a size 40 and added 1cm on both the front and back side pieces. Viki makes you finish all the seam allowances with bias binding, giving the inside of the dress a really beautiful, refined finish. I finish the hem of the dress by hand, while watching Safe on Netflix. ( Both were brilliant! LOL!)

DE: Was habe ich also neues gelernt? Wie ich Abnäher ordentlich markiere ohne einzelne Punkte mit Kreide zu markieren (wo habe ich das eigentlich gelernt??). Wie man die Träger aneinander näht damit sie besonders gelungen aussehen, ohne mir dabei die Haare auszureißen… der Trick ist sooooooooooooooo einfach… ich kann es selbst nicht fassen!!! Und dass es wirklich stimmt, dass wenn dein Kleid von innen und von außen besonders toll aussieht, dass man es öfters trägt! =)

EN: So what did I learn? How to properly mark my darts and not use chalk and tiny dots on my fabric (where on earth did I learn that??) How to sew the straps together leaving you with a very professional finish, that doesn’t make you want to tear out your hair! And that if you spend time to pretty up the insides of your dress, you will wear it more! =)

DE: Ich bin begeistert und plane schon eine zweite Version mit dem Schulter Volant. Vielleicht werde ich wirklich noch eine Menge von meinen Sommerstoffen vernähen können… schließlich soll der Hochsommer noch bis Mitte August andauern! EN: I’m really impressed with my Melina Dress and am already dreaming up another Version with the shoulder flounce piece. Hopefully, I will still be able to use up some of my summer fabrics, especially, as the heatwave is supposed to continue well into August.
