DE: Meine Lieben! Heute gibt es wieder einen Schnitt und Workshop Bericht – und zwar über die Hose Courant von Claire Massieu! Das tolle Team von Claire Massieu hatte mich gefragt ob ich die Courant gerne ausprobieren möchte UND OB ICH DAS WOLLTE! Als dann noch ein Platz in deren Workshop, im Louloute München, freigeworden ist, haben die Damen sich wieder gemeldet und ich bin in Windeseile, an einem Samstag, dorthin gedüst. Das Atelier ist wirklich schön, hell, offen und gefüllt mit lauter wunderbaren Nähdetails – der Türstopper ist ein Vintage Bügeleisen, überall hängen die fertig genähten Kleidungsstücken von Claire Massieus Kollektionen, auf Kleiderständern und Stoffe gibt es auch!

 

EN: Hello everyone! Another week another project and another sewing workshop! The lovely ladies from Caire Massieu aked me, if I wanted to give their Courant Trousers a go – HAVE WE MET? And then got in touch again, when a spot in their sewing workshop at the Louloute Atelier became available. I pretty much beamed myself into that class, the moment I got wind of it and was really impressed. The Atelier, is modern, bright and filled to the brink with lovely sewing details – the doorstopper is a vintage iron, the samples of all the Claire Massieu collections are hung on clothing racks in the studio and yes, there is fabric available to pet and purchase. I WAS IN HEAVEN!

 

DE: Wir waren zu viert im Kurs und wurden von Schneidermeisterin Kathi an die Hand genommen, ausgemessen und instruiert, welche Größe wir ausschneiden sollten. Sie erklärte uns weshalb die Größen bei den großen Markenketten alle so unterschiedlich ausfallen würden (Um den Kunden zu schmeicheln!), gab uns tolle Tipps für die jeweiligen Stoffe, die wir mitgebracht hatten und legte uns nah IMMER auf den Fadenlauf zu achten (ein sehr wertvoller Tipp, seitdem wir darüber gesprochen habe, messe ich das auch jedes Mal aus! DANKE KATHI!), bevor wir mit dem Ausschneiden begannen.

 

DE: Our sewing instructor Kathi, who is a certified seamstress, took us by the hand, measured us and instructed us which size we should cut out. She gave us tips regarding the different fabrics we all brought along , explained why the sizes from big box labels are all so different from each other (to make you feel slimmer than you are…le sigh!) and explained all the reasons you need to pay attention to the grain of the fabric, something I never paid too much attention to, but have since taken into account in all the makes I’ve since made!

 

DE: Die Hose mit dem tiefen Schritt, besteht aus wenigen Schnittstücken und lässt sich sowohl in elastischen und unelastischen Stoffen, wie Jersey oder Leinen nähen. Ich habe beim ersten Mal einen ganz tollen Sweatstoff von Elsbeth und ich verwendet, der mir großzügiger Weise zur Verfügung gestellt worden ist! Der Stoff ist wunderbar weich und hat einen ganz tollen Druck, der selbst bei mehrfachen waschen und trockenen, weder an Farbe noch an Qualität verloren hat. Ich habe schon ein Auge auf einen anderen Sweatshirtstoff im Onlineshop geworfen.

 

EN: The Courant Trouser with the dropped crotch can be sewn up with elastic or woven fabrics, such as jersey or linen. I used a fabulous French Terry, that I was generously gifted to me by Elsbeth und ich! The fabric is really soft and even after a few washes and being tumble dried, hasn’t lost any of its color or has started to pill. How’s that for quality? I’m already lusting over a few other sweatshirt fabrics in the online shop.

 

DE: Genäht haben wir auf Brother Nähmaschinen, ich hatte zuvor noch nie auf solchen Maschinen genäht und sie sind sehr angenehm in der Handhabung – meine Singer kann da nicht mithalten. Wir haben den Überwendlings Stich verwendet um die Nähte zu versäubern, eine Premiere für mich und ich habe Abends daheim festgestellt, dass ich sogar einen Fuß für den Überwendlings Stich habe, nur keine Ahnung hatte, was ich das mit überhaupt machen sollte! LOL!!

 

EN: We sewed on Brother machines in the workshop- which outclassed my machine, easily. I’ve never used a Brother before but can report, that they are easy to use and come with a number of very useful stitches, such as the edge stitching stitch (faux overlocking stitch) to finish raw edges! I was quite impressed with this stitch, as I had never used this before and we finished all of the raw edges of the trousers with it. Later that night I discovered that I in fact had the same foot at home for my machine and never used it, as I had no idea, what it was for! LOL!!

 

DE: Die Hose war sehr schnell zusammen genäht, passte perfekt und ich wollte sie gar nicht ausziehen! Ich habe gleich ein zweites Paar im Kurs ausgeschnitten, bevor ich heimgefahren bin (ich musste die großen Tische zum Zuschneiden ausnutzen!) und die dann am Tag drauf fertig genäht! Es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht an dem Kurs teilzunehmen, als jemand, der sich das Nähen selbst beigebracht hat, war es toll ein paar neue Techniken zu lernen (der Überwendlingsfuss wurde schon verwendet!) und in einer Gruppe zusammen zu nähen. An dieser Stelle möchte ich ein großes Dankeschön an Kathi, die wirklich eine tolle Lehrerin ist und an das Claire Massieu Team aussprechen, die mir das überhaupt ermöglicht haben. Es war wirklich ein toller Kurs und es hat mir echt Spaß gemacht, bei euch im Atelier zu nähen. Ihr findet hier übrigens eine tolle Übersicht zu allen aktuellen Kursen die angeboten werden, ich werde im Herbst auf jeden Fall wieder kommen, um meine Nähfähigkeiten wieder aufzubessern! EN: The trousers fit right out of the package and were so comfortable, that I didn’t want to take them off. Since I sewed so quickly, I used the remainder of time, to cut out another pair (I had to take advantage of the great cutting tables of the Atelier!) and finished sewing them the next day, at home. It was really a great experience to take part in a sewing workshop, being self-taught myself it was great to learn a few new techniques (I’ve since used the faux overlocking stitch!) from an accomplished seamstress and sew the same projects with other people. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Kathi our wonderful teacher and the entire Claire Massieu Team who made this possible for me. I had an excellent time in the course and really enjoyed sewing in your atelier!
