DE: Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Heute möchte ich euch gerne meine neuen Sommerkleider, die Rosie Dresses von Sew Over it, vorstellen. Das blaue Kleid ist eigentlich ein UFO, dass letzten August in meine UFO Kiste gewandert ist, nachdem der Herbst mich in England eingeholt hatte. Aber fangen wir von Vorne an!

EN: Good morning lovelies! Today I’d like to introduce my two new Rosie Dresses, that I made the past 2 weeks. The blue one is actually a former UFO that got discarded last August, when the weather turned bad and I felt, I wouldn’t actually get around to wearing it. But let me start from the beginning.

 

DE: Ich habe letzten Sommer einen Ausflug auf den Birmingham Ragmarket gemacht, dort verkauft ein netter Mann jeden Tag B-Ware Stoffe von Liberty und ich hatte auch geplant seinen Stand leer zu kaufen, aber an diesem Sommertag hatte er außer Liberty Stoffe auch Unmengen von Afrikanischen Wax-Stoffen. Für diejenigen, die es nicht wissen, werden die meisten Afrikanischen Stoffe in 6 Meter Längen verkauft. Meine Freundin Victoria und ich haben uns sehr schnell in sehr viele (!!!!) Stoffe verliebt und haben  dann dann immer “Halbe-Halbe” gemacht. Bei 12 GBP für 6 Meter Stoff, kann man sich dann auch austoben!

EN: Last summer, I went on a fabric shopping trip to the Birmingham Ragmarket, and my plan was to buy ALL THE LIBERTY from the vendor at the outside market. On that day however, he not only had Liberty B-Material but also an immense amount of African Wax prints. For those of you, who don’t know it, wax prints are sold in 6 meter lots. Needless to say I fell in love with a lot of different prints and thankfully my dear friend Victoria and I have the same taste, so we bought loads of different prints and then shared the fabric. It’s hard to say no, when 6 Meters of fabric is 12GBP…=)

 

DE: Daheim angekommen lagen die Stoffe dann in meinem Schrank. Ich fand sie alle sehr schön, nur wusste ich jetzt nicht, was ich damit machen sollte… UND DANN KAM ROSIE!!! Anfang August letzten Jahres hat Sew Over It dieses tolle Schnittmuster veröffentlicht und ich wusste genau, was ich nun mit einem meiner Wax-Prints machen wollte.

EN: Once I got home, I washed the fabric and it then was relegated to my stash, as I had no idea what to make with it…. until Sew Over it released the ultimate Summer Dress the ROSIE DRESS!!!! It was love at first sight and I now knew what I would like to make with the wax prints.

 

DE: Ich schnitt wie immer die Größe 12 zu und verlängerte das Oberteil um 1 inch und dann machte ich mich daran den Rock auszuschneiden, der Wax-Stoff war sehr schmal und der Rock ist besonders weit, so, dass ich ihn leider sehr schnell feststellen musste, das ich mit meinem 3 Metern nicht besonders weit kommen würde. Panisch rief ich Victoria an und berichtete ihr von meinem Malheur und da sie besonders nett, hat sie mir ihre 3 Meter überlassen, so dass ich mein Kleid fertig stellen konnte. Ich habe wirklich jeden Zentimeter für das Kleid benötigt.

 

EN: I cut a size 12  and lengthened the bodice by 1 inch  and then started cutting out the skirt, as the wax print isn’t very wide, I realised very quickly that I wouldn’t be able to make it with the length of fabric I had. INSEART ME SOBBING HERE!! I called Victoria in a real panic and she came to my rescue by giving me her 3 meters (YOU ARE A SAINT VEE!!) So I could finish my dress. I will not lie, I needed every centimetre I had and did a bit of origami pattern laying to get everything cut out on the right grain.

 

DE: Ich habe das Oberteil mit dem gleichem Stoff gefüttert und die Schulterträger um 3 inch verkürzt, zuerst habe ich die Träger am Rücken, an der falschen Stelle angenäht, dies ist mir aber erst aufgefallen als ich zum dritten mal den Träger verkürzt hatte…. nachdem ich alles noch einmal aufgetrennt hatte, saß alles, wie es sitzen musste. Ich habe das Oberteil an beiden Seiten noch einmal um 2 cm enger genäht und dann 13 cm Richtung Hüft, immer mehr in in die Nähtzugabe laufen lassen (macht das Sinn??). Die Passform war dann genauso, wie ich sie haben wollte.

EN: I used the same fabric to line the bodice and chopped off 3 Inches of the shoulder strap I did however accidently sew the strap to the wrong part of the bodice which I only noticed after I had under stitched the lining… not a great thing to unpick, I tell you!! I also took in the bodice by 2 cm on both sides to make the fit a bit better.

 

DE: Vorweg muss ich sagen, dass ich eigentlich überhaupt nicht auf gekräuselte Röcke stehe, ich war aber von dem Design des Schnittes so begeistert, dass ich beschlossen hatte es trotzdem auszuprobieren, im schlimmsten Fall würde ich den Rock einfach abändern. Musste ich nicht. Der Rock ist soooo schön, er fällt er schon die beiden Kellerfalten machen den Rock weniger voll und sind ein schooner Hingucker. Ich habe im Innen des Rocks alles  mit meiner Overlock versäubert und den Saumen dann per Hand, vor dem Fernsehen festgenäht, ich mache das wirklich sehr gerne!

EN: I don’t really like gathered skirts on me, don’t get me wrong, I think they are fabulous on pretty much everyone who wears them, but I always feel like it’ too much fabric around my hips. I will not lie, I was a bit worried, that I would have to improvise with this pattern, but my fears were rather silly. I love the skirt! The pleats in the front with the lovely gathered skirts are amazing. The skirt hangs beautifully and is sooo swishy, I love it! I used my overlocker on all my seams and hand sewed the hem in front of the TV, which I’ll admit is one of my favourite things to do!

DE: Naja, weil mir das Kleid doch so gut gefiel, beschloss ich es noch ein weiteres mal zu nähen und einige Veränderungen daran zu machen. Dafür benutze ich diesen Stoff von Stoff und Stil, ich stehe eigentlich nicht so auf Kinderstoffe, aber bei Eis, sage ich nie nein! Dieses Mal habe ich die Größe 10 verwendet und das Oberteil nicht verlängert, ich finde die Passform dadurch viel besser! Die Träger verkürzte ich um 3 Inch und nähte sie auch beim ersten Mal an der richtigen Stelle an. YAS!!!

EN: So here’s the thing, I really liked making the dress and I really loved the dress and I don’t have any other summer dresses in my closet, so I decided to just make another a few days after I had completed the first one. I used this cotton fabric from Stoff und Stil, I don’t usually like children’s fabric, but I will never say no to ICE CREAM!!! This time I sized down to a 10 and chopped of the  shoulder strap by 3 inches and didn’t lengthen the bodice, this fit was perfect without me fiddling around with it! YAS!!!

DE: Das Oberteil habe ich mit einem Batist gefüttert, ich hatte Angst, dass man das Eis Muster sonst durch den Stoff sehen könnte. Ich glaube ich habe nicht einmal 3 Stunden (inkl. ausschneiden) für dieses Kleid benötigt. Es ist ein einfaches Muster, aber es hat eine ganz tolle Wirkung. Für mich ist es das Sommerkleid für 2017 und eigentlich würde ich es gerne noch einmal nähen, dafür muss mir nur noch der richtige Stoff in die Hände fallen =) Weitere gut gekleidete Damen findet ihr hier unter MeMadeMittwoch!

EN: I lined the bodice with some plain cotton I had in my stash, as I was worried you’d be able to see the ice cream cones through the fabric, if I’d used the same fabric for the lining. I don’t think I spent more than 3 hours making this dress (incl. cutting it out) It’s a very quick make and so much fun to wear, which is why I’m going to call this my summer dress pattern of 2017! Also, I might make another one, to avoid me wearing the two I have to death!! Now if I could find the right fabric…
